I can’t even with the election tomorrow, I’m afraid I will grind through my mouth guard if I get any more stressed out about it. Red Lentil Soup with Warm Spices
I came accross this recipe on Facebook, because I follow Cooks Illustrated. I saved it and waited for the right day, and happily, that day finally came with the cooler weather. The soup is delicious and warm and has lovely flavors. We had it 3 different ways…I had the soup with some sourdough bread, Ted is low carb, so had his with some chicken in the bottom of the bowl, and Maya is vegetarian (mostly, she eats a bit of fish), and she had hers over some fake chicken with some sourdough bread. I guess we’re not in quarantine anymore, based on the fact that my daughter is going in to the office, and restaurants are open (25% capacity for indoor dining), so likely I waited too long to use this meme. Meme Monday – Miscellany
We’ve all done this around here…the worst was the time I got all of the way to the grocery store and then had to come home and get my mask. The store isn’t too far from my house, but still, I was on my lunch hour, so it was annoying. As disposable masks became more available, we got smart and started keeping some in the car and in my purse. I’m hopeful that this will be a light flu season, as so many people are washing hands better and wearing masks and not congregating and so on. We got our flu shots, just in case. Saturday was errands, including Bed Bath and Beyond, because our electric kettle broke. Ted got a new cookbook, Indian-ish, and made us a delicious dinner. Art ala 2020. I miss museums. A few years ago, I went to see an exhibit at a local museum with my dear friend Marilee. I paid for the admission to the exhibit, which was Degas, Impressionism, and the Millinery trade, and while we were in the gift shop at the end of the exhibit, she found out that the ticket price could be applied to an annual membership, and she paid the difference as a gift to me. A Day of ‘Firsts’
Today was a day of ‘firsts in awhile’…I haven’t done any of these things since SIP started in March. 1. Got $$ from the ATM 2. Went to the Farmer’s Market 3. Went to a movie I haven’t needed cash, really the place I spend it most is at the Farmer’s Market. I don’t know WHY I haven’t been going there, it’s obviously even more safe than the grocery store, but I did worry about being around too many people, and then there was smoke and hot days and blah blah blah. I’m so distraught about the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was an amazing woman, a gift to our country.
