Ally, I grew up with snow…I’m sure it gets tiring, but since I don’t live with it I think it would be nice once in awhile. However, it would kill most of my plants, including my little avocado tree, so no thanks!

This is my pathetic postage stamp sized back yard, but I like the little hummingbird visiting on the feeder, and the orange of the tree. I try every year to make my yard something it will never be, more lush somehow, but the heat and the shade and my overall laziness and cheapness always get in my way. It’s nicest in spring.

I love the hummingbird! I had never seen them until I moved to California and only realized we have them here when I saw my first many years ago. Still so cool.

Thanks Meike! This one is here so often these days, probably due to the cold weather. I love watching it from my kitchen window.

That’s a lovely view! I enjoyed reading your blog philosophy. Blogging does offer a peak at how other people are dealing with aging, death of parents, and so many other situations we face. My friends in real life are so busy with so many activities – golf, pickleball, traveling – that, being a writer, I’ve really needed my blogging friends.

Thanks JT! I haven’t read my blog philosophy in years, thanks for the reminder. I just went back and re-read it, and yep, still all true.

Which made me look at my other pages…recipes, book reviews, 101 things…I wrote the 101 things when I was 43. I’m 56 now, soon to be 57. So much has changed, so much is the same. I gave up on the recipes page, though I do still post recipes. And the book reviews…I used to enjoy being part of book challenges, but somewhere along the way I lost interest. I don’t remember now whether that is because other folks stopped blogging, or if I couldn’t keep up, or if I was just feeling meh. What all of this is telling me is that my blog is sorely neglected. I still like posting here, but I guess I should think about whether a cleanup is in order or not.

What a nice little spot. That tree is gorgeous. This looks like a pleasant place to have coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.

Haha, we have postage stamp sized backyard, too, but it’s better than not having one at all… and you’re definitely looks like a little oasis of tranquility 😉 Thanks for the reminder: I’ve been meaning to get a hummingbird feeder!
