Not sure what season it is in your neck of the woods, but around here, Summer is early and long.

We have a new Farmers’ Market in the neighborhood, which means two to choose from on Saturday mornings (OK, more than two, but two that are very close). This is a good thing. There’s also one on Sunday, one on Tuesday, and one on Thursday, so lots of opportunities to get really fresh local fruits and veggies. And olive oil and wine and bread and flowers and fish and meat and so on.

Gorgeous! Are those little Saturn peaches? And you already have garden tomatoes; I’m so jealous. The potatoes look wonderful too. You’re a lucky, lucky girl, J. !

Ack, Nance, did you see the grammatical error in my caption? The picture was titled “Farmer’s Market”, as though there were just one farmer. AND, it’s a “Wordless Wednesday”, so really, there shouldn’t have been a caption at all. I removed it. I really shouldn’t post after having wine.

Those ARE Saturn peaches (YUM), and the tomatoes are grown in a hot house, but I couldn’t resist. We don’t get fresh yummy garden tomatoes for a bit longer yet. The nectarines were AWESOME though, and I don’t think of those as being an early June fruit. Guess I’m wrong. Who knew I’d be so happy to be wrong?

Very nice, J! On the Island, summers are far too short for my liking (and winters are far too long)! We do have some wonderful farmers’ markets here though. It’s always so much fun and I’m looking forward to taking Little One to the market on Saturdays. For some reason, I can’t seem to get to the ones during the weekday. You’d think that since I’m on mat leave, I’d have all the time in the world, eh?

YUM! I can’t wait to go back on Saturday and get some fruits and veggies. Funds were very limited this past weekend as I forgot to get cash and spent all of what we had on the pasta and sauce and sorbet. 🙂 And I couldn’t go back again to get more as we had to get going on our plans for the day. I really love the way you have them all set up, I could just eat your photo!!!

Looks lovely! I love that we have so many great farmers’ markets around. Our Thursday night one also has live music!
We already have some little cherry tomatoes coming out of our little garden. I can’t wait until there are so many we can’t eat them all.

    vittles
The incorrect spelling of the word victuals (hey, grab a dictionary of you don’t believe me). It is usually misspelled this way because this is how the word is pronounced

    I can’t spell either!?LOL!!!!!

  • J

Hey Jimmy, welcome to the non-spelling club! I knew both vittles and victuals, probably from reading “Smokey the Cow Horse” about 150 times as a girl. 😉

Love the picture. I hope I will actually be able to grow something this year but the Farmer’s Market is great too.
