(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

There’s a street nearby, Walden Road, that for some reason has a plethora of Toyota Celica GTS. Should we rename the street? Feel free to vote for your favorite.
A. Celica Street.
B. GTS Way.
C. Matchbox Boulevard.
D. _________________ (your suggestion)

Bonus Celica, but this one for some reason is not a GTS. I’m not sure how they got away with it in this neighborhood.

      Ted’s family had one too, and he agrees, it was a great car. It’s fascinating to me that these are all on one block, and I don’t really see them around town or anything, they’re distinctive enough that I would likely notice. Maybe a Toyota employee lives there and gets deals for their neighbors?

    This has nothing to do with Celicas, but we used to have a game with the kids when they were young that whenever we saw a Tesla we would yell, “Tesla!” And the colour and the license plate number. (This was back when we were teaching them their letters and numbers.)
    Well then we went to visit my brother in Berkeley and we realized that the game was not as fun because there were so.many. Teslas. Everywhere.
    Maybe we should switch to Celicas?

      SO MANY TESLAS around here. I don’t think I would have even noticed if the street were full of Teslas. I remember calling out when we saw an old VW Bug. You don’t see many of those anymore. Sometimes a new one, but not the older ones.

      Hey, next time you’re out visiting your brother, if you have time (I know, difficult on a family vacation) it would be fun to meet up!

    This is hilarious! I have noticed clusters of things in neighborhoods — Halloween decor, fake flowers, identical mailbox protectors (from snowplows) — but this Celica clustering is a new one for me. I have so many questions! Is one of the neighbors a Toyota dealer? Was there a Celica sale at a nearby dealership? Are they all in a gang? Do the Celica owners know each other?

    I vote for Matchbox Blvd.

    When we were visiting North in Michigan this summer, we saw three cars parked in a row (inlcuding ours) all the same color, a blue-gray called “vapor blue” or something like that. Beth just bought the car, so the name of the color was fresh in her head. She said she thought it was unusual, but now we are seeing it everywhere.

    My first call was a cherry red celica! I love that car! It was so sporty and fun – but TERRIBLE in the winter since it had rear wheel drive. I did not realize Celicas still existed! How fun to see so many of them!

    I love the look of that little sporty car. Like you and suzanne, I have so many questions, one of them worrisome: ARE THEY ALL IN SOME KIND OF A CULT? Remember awhile ago when there was a death cult in which everyone wore black Nikes? I don’t think this many Celicas is a coincidence. (Cue scary, foreboding music.)

    I would also like to point out the vibrancy of said cars. Is there a rule that the cars must be a bright, cheerful color, too? (My parents have pointed out—multiple times—that most newer cars are white, silver, black, or grey, and they’re not wrong. It just means that I sent them pictures of the highlighter green, yellow, and blue cars that I see around here. :>)

      I’m not sure I would have noticed all of these cars together if they had all be silver or grey, the vibrant colors really helped me notice.
