Synchronicity

Last night, as Maya was doing her Earth Science homework, she asked me if I had ever studied the Richter scale.  “Um…”I thought about it a bit, “No, I don’t think so.”  “Really?”  Clearly my education has been lacking.  Or maybe we DID study it in 6th grade, and I just don’t remember.

Then, a few hours later, we were getting ready for bed, and we had an earthquake! (SF Gate is trying to scare us, telling us that it was the biggest earthquake since ’89, and raises the danger of a big one on the Hayward fault.   Should we be scared?  Who knows. Maybe it’s time to put together an earthquake kit…)

Synchronicity, indeed!  I hope they don’t study floods…

Happy Halloween, J & Co! That is a little scary to me! I had a friend who was living in CA in the early 90’s when a large one hit…he said he was walking down the street and the sidewalk just started swaying. That blows my mind! Yes, do get your kit together!

I didn’t feel it..We were in Oakley and other people sitting did..but I was oblivious. Probably a good idea to get a kit together 😉 Happy halloween gals and ghouls!

I was in the middle of my class and everyone shouted EARTHQUAKE!! Honestly I didn’t feel a thing. I was so involved with what I was doing that I thought they were just kidding. Have a Happy Halloween J.

No ML, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the one in ’89. Just that we haven’t had any big ones since then. That one was a 6.9 or a 7.1 (they now say 6.9, but at the time they said 7.1), and the one last night was a 5.6, which is MUCH smaller. Big enough to feel, maybe break a few things, but not big enough to do real damage or hurt anyone. 🙂
