Stupidity

Awhile ago, I signed up to be a blogger over at Top Blog Mag…they have four bloggers a week write posts on one theme. The theme this week is ‘Stupidity”, and if you’re at all interested in finding out what I did that was stupid enough to get me fired from Mr. Steak back in 1984, click on over and check it out.

You’re absolutely right, you shouldn’t leave a trail. However, it’s not like you were the only one who did this and Mr. Coward should have gone to bat for you a little bit especially since he encouraged this type of behavior.

What like though is that the place closed down after you left ๐Ÿ™‚

Sadly, Mr. Coward didn’t really encourage the behavior..it was Mr. Coward’s assistant. So the boss man didn’t know WHAT the heck was going on.

Oh…well, the assistant man never got a chance to say a thing. The big regional boss came in, saw the ticket, told the manager to fire me. The boss did so, without consulting the assistant, because he had no idea that he was even involved. So by the time the assistant found out, I had been gone for a day or two. But no, he never tried to get me rehired or anything, so far as I know. I did see him a week or so later, and he was very embarrased and said he was sorry that that had happened to me. I already had a new job making more money closer to home, so I was fine with it all.

Life lesson. I worked at a restaurant in my hometown during summer breaks in the mid 80’s. They were a wild group much more so than my regular college friends.

Great stupidity story, and a great lesson to learn. I’d say it is even more important these days to keep this lesson in mind, because we have become so casual in our emails and IMs and we sometimes forget that those records are forever. There’s no shredding all of the hard-drives out there!
