Right Here, Right Now

A woman on the radio talked about revolution
When it’s already passed her by
Bob Dylan didn’t have this to sing about you
You know it feels good to be alive

I was alive and I waited, waited
I was alive and I waited for this
Right here, right now
There is no other place I want to be
Right here, right now
Watching the world wake up from history

I saw the decade in, when it seemed
The world could change at the blink of an eye
And if anything
Then there’s your sign… of the times

I was alive and I waited, waited
I was alive and I waited for this
Right here, right now

I was alive and I waited, waited
I was alive and I waited for this
Right here, right now
There is no other place I want to be
Right here, right now
Watching the world wake up from history

~Jesus Jones, “Right Here, Right Now”

I had a post all written up and ready, about how it hit me last night, watching the returns from New Hampshire, that we are truly making history right now…that the top two candidates for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States are a woman and a black man…but I think Jesus Jones capture my feelings exactly.

I couldn’t agree with you more! And that’s probably my favorite Jesus Jones song — although they did have a couple of good tunes on their follow up. 🙂

And to anyone who says, “Don’t count Edwards out, he did well in Iowa”, I say, I haven’t. Not at all. The idea that anything at all is decided and candidates should start going home after only two primaries drives me nuts. I like Edwards, and I hope he wins the next primary, because I think he has a lot of valuable things to say about poverty in America, and I’d like all three of them to take the best of what is being said, and internalize it. Rose colored glasses much, J? I know.

But right here, right now, is a pretty awesome thing.

yes, it is giving me chills….this is such an important time…I find myself paying close attention…a friend of mine said it feels like the most important election of her life and I second that sentiment. Absolutely love the Jesus Jones reference. I have always love that song.

It completely bums me out that our primary (MI) was messed up and that only Hillary is on the ballot. I would have liked to have seen both of their names there. I am not as involved with this election as I have been in the past (proud Deaniac), but it has been interesting to see it unfold. I think it will be a toss up until the convention. Although, I still want Elizabeth Edwards to run.

Very appropriate. We will see how it all plays out. BTW, I really liked Jesus Jones when they came out with that song. I think I bought their cd then was disappointed I didn’t hear from them again.

Very nice that you were able to take a fab 80’s-ish song and put it in that context!

I like Edwards the best, but of course I will vote for whichever Democratic candidate who gets the nomination.

It really is something to be alive while all of this is happening. Sometimes we get so tied up in the frightening things that happen and we forget to notice the wonderful ones.

As a staunch Rebublican……..ok..ok…..don’t get the lynching mob on me yet!!!!

I am secretely hoping Obama gets the Democratic nomination.
He would be the first democratic presidential candidate I would vote for over certain rebublican candidates.

I like him better than the rebublican prospects. What in the hell is wrong with me?????

The first time I ever voted in my life was in 92, and that was to vote AGAINST Bill Clinton, so you can imagine what I think of Hillary.

And John Edwards makes my skin crawl.

Jimmy, I just emailed my Republican friend who lives in NY the other day, and she also said she’s considering voting for Obama. Though she loves Rudy, too. Crazy, huh, when someone can be torn between two candidates with so little in common?

  • Jimmy

I know what you mean. I’m not that crazy about Rudy.
Fred is my fav on the GOP ticket, but I don’t think he has a chance.
My poor ole Dad thinks Obama is the antichrist!!LOL!!!
There is so much garbage out there on the internet about Obama that’s just not true.
My Dad sends me all these horrible emails about him and I have to go to “Snopes” and dispute the lies and then email it back to him.

I just want to see the good ole USA a little more unified and I think Obama is the best man for that job.

I can’t explain it? I guess it depends on his pick as VP when he gets the nomination that might sway me different.

I think of Hillary as the antichrist!!!!LOL!!!!
