(No) Meme Monday – Happy Birthday Ted!

Today is Ted’s Birthday! We had a wonderful weekend….Saturday some vaccinated friends had us over for a very small (there were 4 of us) get together, and gosh it felt great to not wear our masks and be around people and see their faces for a change. They made Ted a special birthday treat that was low carb, no sugar, no dairy, so he got to have some sweet for a change. We watched the Kentucky Derby, and for once I actually bet online, which was a mistake because I lost. It was a great day.

Then yesterday, we had another small get together with vaccinated family, just the same 6 of us that we have had for Thanksgiving and every other holiday. But for the first time in over a year, no masks. It felt so liberating and wonderful! We had Indian BBQ, which means everything was pretty much your standard grilled food, but the chicken and fish were marinated in tandoori paste. It was delicious and a lot of fun.

Today, we took the day off from work. It is supposed to be 91 degrees for a high this afternoon, so we are going to beat the heat and go to the coast. Mulder is very happy that he is invited.

It was a lovely weekend, glad that it has stretched into Monday as well. Happy weekend to you all too, and of course, Happy Birthday to Nance, who shares the day with Ted.

Updating to add a couple of pictures from our day just North of the Golden Gate.

I took a little video because I loved the sound of the birds and the ocean. I could listen to that all day. When I look at it on my wordpress app, it shows within the post, but when I look at the blog post on my browser, it is just a link. I wonder if it’s going to make my page load slowly? Time will tell. UPDATE: I removed the video, it wasn’t playing. Still works on my phone, so I can have a moment of zen if I need it.

Mulder enjoying the beautiful weather and smells. You can see some radio towers in the background…they are in San Francisco, and we are across the Golden Gate at the Marin Headlands. He is a Keeshond, which is not a very common breed, but someone usually recognizes him and says ‘Oh, we had Keeshond when I was a kid! Great dogs!’ Or something like that. One woman was SO excited to see him, because not 5 minutes ago she had been showing her husband pictures of Keeshonden (that’s the plural) online and saying she wanted one. And then there he was.

Ted goofing around and showing off a beautiful bush with purple flowers. The sunglasses were a gift from his brother, kind of a joke. It was a lovely day, a nice way to end a lovely birthday weekend. Felt like the beginning of getting back to ‘normal’.

    Happy Birthday, Ted!

And thank you for my mention. You are so thoughtful.

Mulder looks chipper and fluffy as usual. He’s so happy!

Your activities sound wonderful and pleasant. I share your happiness about being Vaxxed And Relaxed. What a terrific feeling to be able to get together with other vaxxed friends and family and feel NORMAL. I’m sorry you lost on your Derby bet. Did you bet on Soup and Sandwich? I’d have bet on that horse simply because What A Great Name!

Indian BBQ sounds so good. Off to watch your movie.

Nance, Mulder was SO HAPPY that day, as was Ted. A sunshiny day at the ocean, who can ask for more?

Now I wonder if the video even works…did it work for you? It works for me, but when I tried to see how it rendered on my work computer it said I needed a plug in. Anyway, it’s just 15 seconds of the sound of ocean and bird song.

I honestly don’t remember who I bet on. I did zero research and just did some betting based on who my friends were betting on. Lazy betting. I was tempted to vote for Soup and Sandwich though!

Yeah, I wouldn’t either! Maybe I’ll pull it from the post. Seemed like a good idea at the time, didn’t know it would be such a pain in the butt. 🙂

No dog named Scully, but thank you for getting the reference! Our daughter’s friend had a cat named Scully when we were looking for a name for him, so that’s how we came up with it. Sadly, they never met.
