Meme Monday – Ready for Christmas?

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice, delicious food, good company, lots of laughs. Overall a winner. After Thanksgiving, we had a little friends and family time. Ted had lunch with his best friend on Friday, and Maya went into San Francisco with a friend to visit another friend of theirs, who recently had an appendectomy. I had to do a bit of work, but not too much. Working from home is a blessing and a curse. I didn’t have to go in to the office, which was the blessing. I did have to work, which maybe I might have avoided if I weren’t so available. We celebrated the first night of Hanukkah a little early, because our calendar had it on the wrong date. What do we know.

Saturday my cousin, who lives about 6 hours away, came to visit with her son. I haven’t seen them in a long time. She is not vaccinated, she doesn’t feel safe about it. So she wore her mask while inside (basically getting from the front yard to the back yard), and we mostly stayed in the back yard eating pizza and talking. Handy to live in California where that works in late November. After they left, I talked to my brother for a little while. I haven’t talked to him in a bit, and it was great to hear his voice.

Sunday, we did a little Christmas prep. We put up the tree and lights, and wrapped the gifts we have at this point. Then we made a second Hanukkah dinner. I love latkes, so it wasn’t a problem to have them twice. Ted made a nice roast chicken and some veggies, and homemade applesauce.

I feel like the holidays snuck up on us this year, but I feel ready for them at the same time. How about you? Are you ready?

Regarding the meme above, Ted put a Christmas music channel on while we were decorating the tree, so I have heard the song already. Since it’s not December yet, however, I’m still in.

LOL on the Whamageddon game. I’d never heard of it. I spend a lot of time avoiding Mariah Carey’s Christmas wailings. A LOT of time.

Our family refuses to begin any Christmas decorating or music until December 1st. There are at least two Cleveland radio stations that have been playing Christmas music for weeks. Weeks!

I *have* done some online and in person shopping already, though. When I see something, I get it.

Today I am shopping, but just for cat food. If they play Christmas music at PetSmart, I will try not to hear it.

Thanks for the reminder, Nance, I need to get dog food today.

Richard’s birthday is Dec 6th, so growing up, we always waited until after that to decorate. He did NOT want his birthday to be mixed in with Christmas. Around here, we sometimes put up decorations right after Thanksgiving, as we did this year, and sometimes we wait until the spirit moves us. Sometimes we barely make it before Christmas, actually. I’m kind of glad we got it done early this year.
