I’m in Anchorage

Hi All, Haven’t been in Alaska in 10 years, and this is my first time in Anchorage. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be sightseeing or visiting much, as I’m here because my mom has been transferred here from Juneau, and is in the hospital.  Looks like heart problems, which may result in angioplasty, serious meds, or a bypass, depending on tests that they will be doing on Wednesday.  So for now, we wait in the hospital.  Fun.

To my local friends, esp Cherry and Dot, I feel crummy for not calling you and telling you that I was leaving town, hopefully to be back on Saturday, but not sure…but I couldn’t pick up the phone without crying, so I didn’t.  🙁

I’ll keep you up to date, and hopefully be back soon.  Please send your best wishes my mom’s way.

Julie, I’m a friend of your mom’s from Los Angeles. We’ve known each other for years through the OO group. I’m not exaggerating when I say she’s one of my favorite people. I met her in person in 2003 and it was such a wonderful time. Please send my very best to her. I’m thinking of all of you and sending good vibes your way! Jill

    Hi (((((J))))),

I’m a longtime online friend of your mom’s and wanted to say that I’m sending good thoughts and wishes for the best possible outcome for your mom. This must be a worrisome time for you and her entire family. Please take care of yourself while you await the outcome.

What is the best way to send well-wishes – email & snailmail – to your mom? Because I’m sure that there are a great many folks in some groups she belongs to that would love to do just that, if you think it might help.

Thanks everyone. Thus far, we’re waiting to see what the doctors say. We’ll know more tomorrow. I’m not so much on the verge of tears, mostly just glad that mom’s feeling so much better today. Tomorrow and the news it brings will have to wait until then. I’m taking things one day at a time for now.

Michelle, I might be up for that!

Starshine, Yes, my brother is here. It really helps to have someone to go through this with, I’ll tell you. 🙂

    Hi,
I know your mother, through OO, for many, many years. She has talked a lot about her grand daughter Maya (and you and your brother)…..

She has answered so many questions to everyone about OO(making peace with food)…..She answered many questions of “why” for me.

The one thing I will always remember about her is that she called me an “artiste”. Which means to me that I’m not just a regular “duh” person. When things get me down, life, family, I repeat “JOY celyn(way up there in Alaska) says I’m an artiste so to H@LL with them”. LOLOLO…..

I am sending good vibes and thoughts her way and your’s….Trish in Michigan
