I Heart Bissell Right Now

Really.   Take this review for what it’s worth, because we haven’t tested any of the competitors.  Just the Bissell.  But when your dog has diarrhea repeatedly on your off-white carpet, you don’t care what brand you’re using, so long as it works.  And work it did.  Saturday morning, when we woke up to find Genevieve barfing her guts out, we were worried.  But we had a lot going on that day, and didn’t see the shit storm she left behind the television, all over our fancy wiring system for the (rhymes with) Gielson box.  We came home later and found a holy mess, and our old carpet cleaner wasn’t up to the job.  It may have burned out when we used it with oxy-clean, which it wasn’t built for.  No matter.  Ted had to go shopping, pronto, for a product to do the job.  The closest place to buy such a product is our local Best Buy.  He came home with a Bissell ProHeat, along with a pre-cleaner and a regular cleaner for animal smells, etc.  Again and again, these products have come together to not only remove the poop from our carpet, they have also removed the odor.  It looks better than it has looked since our last professional cleaning.  I’m thrilled.

I have to say that in a moment of weakness, before the storm hit, I bought a Woolite Rug Stick for some spots left behind by our drooling dog on her drooly days.  The commercials run over and over while I’m working out with Gilad, and gosh, they sure make it look convincing.  Don’t be fooled.  This product sucks.  It doesn’t even clean dog drool, talk about the challenge of diarrhea.  If anything, it just grinds it into the rug.  Not recommended.  At.  All.

So yesterday, after our third round of carpet cleaning, we found ourselves depleted of the pre-cleaner.  So I went to Best Buy to pick up another bottle, and then, the siren song of floor cleaners sucked me in.  I started thinking about our laminate flooring (where we would prefer the dog poop, duh), and how they are 110% better than carpet for day to day use, seeing as how easy it is to sweep vs. vacuum and swiffer and/or mop, and yet how there are spots where these floors are not looking as awesome as they once did.  Around the front door.  Around the stove.  Around the dog dishes.  All kinds of stupid dirty looking crap that doesn’t come up with the broom, or the Swiffer, or the mop with the 409.  And I remembered how, when we were getting ready to put our place on the market 2 years ago, my SIL Lura had a steam cleaner that worked so well at cleaning the front of cabinets, etc.  I wasn’t willing to get a top of the line hard floor steam cleaner, but I was willing to plunk down almost $100 for a Steam Mop. Know what? Totally worth it. It didn’t clean the floors as much as I would have hoped, to where they looked brand new and perfect, but they look so much cleaner and fresher than I’ve seen them look in years. I heart them. Totally.

Of course, Gen came in and slobbered all over them. What more would you expect?

I’ve been wanting a steam cleaner, especially living in a house with carpet lighter than yours! It would be a good investment for wherever we ended up moving. I had a Bissell vacuum cleaner that only lasted about six months and their customer service regarding it was seriously lacking. I’m glad you Bissell is heavenly 🙂 I would definitely consider it.

Ted bought the warrantee through Best Buy, so if it poops out, it’s covered. 🙂 We had a ‘big green clean machine’ years ago, and it was so/so.
