Happy Passover

Happy Passover to all!

When I found out that the traditional Passover meal includes 4 glasses of wine, it made me wonder…how do you get up and go to work the next day?  So, please, I gotta know…what do you do…do you go to work during Passover?  Or take the day off?

Hi J! I never drink all 4 glasses, for me it’s more like 4 sips! Remember that until recently, wine for Passover was stricly Manischewitz which is akin to grape juice w/ gusto. Now there are lots of Passover wines. Many religious Jews do take off the first two and last two days of Passover, as they are holy days. Another thing about traditional seders is that they last for HOURS! I know people who didn’t end until around midnight, so for the kids it is hard to get up and go to school. I use a Haggadah (seder book) called 30-minute Seder and that’s it for us — and even then my son couldn’t believe I was doing ALMOST every page. OY!

Well, I hope that answered your question. Any time you want to come to a Seder, you and your family are welcome here! (OK, so I’m hundreds of miles from you, whatever). But one of the tennants of Passover is that everyone is welcome.

Here’s to a week of Matzah!

I have such fond memories of Seders when I was growing up – being the one who got to look for the Afikomen (hidden matzoh) and getting some money from Grandpa was a highlight (hey I was 7!) Sadly, I am away from family now so I missed another family seder – makes me sad – but thanks for the Happy Passover wishes!

Happy Passover! Zoe goes to a Jewish Community school and they had a freedom seder a few days ago. She’s off for the next week for passover break. Other than that…..I’m clueless. The four glasses of wine with dinner sounds good right about now. Something has to get rid of this jet lag!
