Friday Randomness
When I was in Ohio recently, Birchie asked me if we had fall colors in California. I don’t know about Southern California, but we do up North. The difference for me between here and back East is that there are a lot more trees there, and that here, a lot of them are evergreens, so we don’t have nearly as many trees changing color. But it’s enough to be gorgeous, and we enjoy it.

Right now there are beautiful oranges. Some neighbors have ginko trees, which turn a spectacular yellow, but those are maybe a week or two off. Autumn is such a relief. We don’t have much humidity, so it’s not the same level of relief, but I am so glad to not have the A/C going, to not worry about my plants burning in the 105F heat. We’re in that sweet spot where we don’t need the heater either, which is the perfect spot. I love spring and fall. We’ve had enough rain already (not much, but some) that I’m hoping we won’t have a fall fire season.
I’ll never get tired of this.
Or this. The night after the election, every time I woke up, I thought, “I’ll bet Trump is pissed off”, and I went back to sleep happy.

Or this. I could probably do a Meme Monday and just post this stuff, it makes me so happy. Except for seeing his stupid face.
I spotted this on a walk the other morning. If you look, you can see that the chair is falling apart. Does someone want this? I don’t know, but it looks like garbage to me.

My iPad keyboard died this week. During NaBloPoMo? When I’m trying to post and comment? That’s some serious bullshit, Joel.

Happily, we are just a few blocks from our local Best Buy, and I was able to get a replacement. This one runs on Bluetooth and batteries, and doesn’t have a track-pad, but it works, and that is what I wanted.

I like this little pumpkin in front of a neighbor’s place. Their daughters are old enough to do something much more sophisticated, so either they had a younger friend/family member do it, or it’s ironic or something.
But it reminded me of when Maya was young and we would get pumpkins, and she woulnt’ let us carve them, because it might hurt. She named her pumpkins ‘pumpkin pie”, which seems like naming your cow ‘hamburger’ or something. Remember when you took pictures on film?
It’s looking like a busy weekend. Today I’m having dinner with my friend, tomorrow I’m meeting up with a Cool Blogger, tomorrow night I may be going to a football game, and Sunday we are celebrating Diwali with Ted’s family. Hopefully I’ll keep up with blogging, it would suck to poop out of NaBloPoMo this early in the month, though it wouldn’t be the first time.

Thanks Michelle! I just got back from your blog, and I love the pictures of the beach house! It’s coming along so nicely.

Er yes I remember taking pictures on film but how rude to remind me;-) Actually it’s a very good exercise in gratitude that nowadays our phones take much better pictures than our old school film cameras did.
I’m glad that you found a new keyboard so that the memes can keep coming! I’m still feeling all of the “pinch me, I’m dreaming” vibes.

Awww, little Maya and her intact pumpkin! What a sweetie!
Your autumn trees are beautiful! We’ve got rain today so I think this is the last of our beautiful fall. It lasted a nice long time though.

My sister lives in Central CA (Davis) and she says they do get some fall color.
What an election! I still can’t believe it’s true.

Naming a cow hamburger. Ha! Yes, I remember hoping to have enough film packed for an important events and fumbling to change film – not wanting to miss something. Or accidentally exposing film. I looked back at a photo album from college recently and wished there were more pictures of some of the times, but back then who could afford to snap photos nonstop to be sure to capture something? Ah, digital cameras- such amazing progress.
Need a million votes – so funny.
Enjoy your busy weekend.

Pretty, pretty tree! We’ve had winds and some rains, so some of our most beautiful trees are now bereft and sad. The red ones are always the first to go; the gorgeous one across the street even got pruned by the city yesterday, so I’m really feeling morose.
Not only do I remember taking photos with actual film cameras, I still have SO MANY photo albums and boxes full of them. Now I want to go get them and look through them. Including my wedding album! Ancient.
Let’s give ourselves at least a few more days to ride the high of the Blue Wave. It feels so good.

Cute Maya, Cute Mulder, Cute pumpkin!!
(not surprising that your little one grew up to be mostly veggie, no?)
