Commenting Again

Picture above is of me on the train from Fairbanks to Denali as a kid. Clearly I do not want to be interrupted, I look annoyed.

I had a very annoying day blogging yesterday. My issue with being able to comment on blogger blogs is now occurring on my daughter’s HP laptop, which was working pretty well for awhile there. SO FRUSTRATING. I read your posts, I had things to say, and yet I could not say them. I just got a message that says I cannot log in to Google. Some of your blogs have an option to comment anonymously, but when I tried that, I got an error. FRUSTRATING. Grumble grumble. (I was able to comment this way this morning, so whatever was wrong yesterday is better now…) What to do now? Do I blog on my work computer, which works fine? Not a good idea. Do I go out and buy a laptop just for blogging? Seems extravagant. I started thinking about my husband’s Google Chrome laptop…would that work? So just this morning, I set up my own ID on that laptop (which hasn’t been used in AGES), and YAY! It works! Now I can come by and read your blogs and comment, and I don’t have to wait for a time when my daughter isn’t using her gaming laptop. What a relief!

I have had weird things happen with commenting on Blogger blogs. I sometimes can’t log in with Google and also can’t comment anonymously, but it doesn’t happen all the time, so I don’t know why and when it happens when it happens. I am glad you found a workaround though!

I had lots of weird things happen last week when I tried to comment anywhere. Blogger is a mess, but so is Typepad. As much as I mutter about WP I am able to comment on WP blogs after jumping through a few hoops. Considering that commenting is what makes blogging worthwhile, in my opinion, it is frustrating when it doesn’t work smoothly.

Ally, maybe what happened to me yesterday was this same event, and not my daughter’s computer. It’s starting to sound that way. And yes, blogging without being able to comment is incredibly frustrating.

I’ve had the same issues with Blogger and WP–I really didn’t want to set up accounts but that made everything easier. However, blogger is supposed to be Google so your google account should work. It’s SO frustrating when things don’t work!

Margaret, it really is. I could sign in to Google, and see my little picture there at the top right corner of the screen. Then I would go to a blog and it would go away, and I was unable to log in. So annoying. I have a google account, I have a blogger account, and STILL hit this roadblock.

I’m hoping that this new solution turns out to be a lasting one, because so far it is great.

Yay! I am so glad you are back in business! Those little unexplained things can be very frustrating. I know you’ve probably already tried this but have you tried clearing cookies and cache? It seems simple but that seems to help my issues about 75% of the time!! I used to get so annoyed with our IT guy when he told me to turn my computer off and back on, but that also helps sometimes! (I don’t think it would in your case but who knows!)

Kyria, yes, I tried both of those, and neither helped, sadly. I’m glad to be back in business, yours is one of the blogs I struggled with.

Hi J, I have run into this issue many times, and it seems only with Blogger platform. I would love to comment when using iPhone but unfortunately the same issue- signing in multiple time with Google to no avail. So what I started doing is marking the posts I mean to comment on as “read later” then when I’m using my Mac computer go back to Feedly and comment then. Annoying? You bet’ya!

Love the photo. I have a similar problem when trying to comment on some blogger blogs on my ipad. I also have issues sometimes with getting my nickname to show on some blogs when commenting with my wordpress account. It keeps using my username instead which is annoying.

Melissa, I feel like the apple connection is a thing. I can’t fix the issue on my iPad, my phone, or my husband’s desktop iMac. Hopefully since this computer is Google specific, it will behave better.

I hear you. I have issues with blogger blogs for years. And sadly but true I always read/comment those last when I have read all other posts – which rarely happens. Glad you found a work around and I hope it sticks.

Thanks Tobia, yes, sometimes those 3 or 4 blogs that frustrate me take all of my blogging energy. Hoping this solution works and I can just comment freely!

I have never had a problem commenting on Blogger (I have a Blogger blog myself), but WordPress is such a problem. Even though I have it set to say NGS is my username, it sometimes uses my actual name and I have done nothing to the settings. There was a recent WP update that made me log in EVERY TIME I wanted to comment on a WP blog and then it would unlog me out. *sigh* I think I have it all working now, but it’s frustrating.

I follow a blogger who uses Disqus for comments and I can not get my Disqus account working at all. I feel like such a loser because she never gets comments, even though she has a beautiful, thoughtful blog, and I want her to know people are reading her!

Commenting on blogger blogs is a huge headache for my iphone. I don’t have issues from a PC. It has made me want to move my blog to wordpress! I’ve tried searching for solutions but have come up dry.

That’s exactly it for me, my iPhone and iPad can’t do it. For awhile I was using my daughter’s laptop, which is not an apple product, and it worked fine. Then last week I couldn’t use that anymore. Now I think that was a hiccup, and I could probably use it again, but I like having my own blogging computer better, so I’m glad we had this one laying around.
