Christmas Dinner…

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I was tagged awhile ago by ML at Zee’s Space to do this meme…the idea is that you’re serving a bunch of foodies, maybe even food bloggers, a wonderful dinner. What do you serve? Well, I certainly don’t have the guts to have a bunch of food bloggers over to my tiny kitchen, with whatever food I could muster, but instead, I’m inviting you all, OK? So, here’s my menu:

We’ll start with a small cup of lobster bisque, served with some fresh tarragon sprinkled on top, and Veuve Cliquot Champagne, because everything tastes better with Veuve Cliquot.

I linked to a recipe that says it’s for Red Lobster. So what? It was the prettiest picture, and I wanted to give them a bit of credit. 🙂 I’m not a huge lobster fan. It’s SO yummy for a bite or two, and then I get overwhelmed by the richness of it all. That’s why you’re only getting a small serving.

Next, you’ll be enjoying a delicious butternut squash ravioli in browned butter sauce, with sage and roasted walnuts. I sometimes get this if I end up at Il Fornaio restaurant, but I find them to be hit and miss. Sooo yummy sometimes, other times, not so much. With your ravioli, have a second glass of champagne.

I know, butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and sage is so, well, tried and true. What’s wrong with that? I like things that are tried and true once in awhile. 😉

For your meat course, we’ll be having rack of lamb. Mostly just because I really like a good rack of lamb, plus it’s not that difficult to cook. At this point we’ll be switching our wine from champagne to Cabernet…I’m thinking maybe a nice bottle of Clos Pegase. Sound good? I thought so.

Now I’m thinking of being very French, and serving a cheese course…there would be cheddar, swiss, Gorgonzola, blue cheese, brie, and a yummy cheese I’ve had a few times called Bermuda Triangle cheese. Mmmm. I’ll have several wines available with the cheese…maybe a Pinot, because I’m all generous like that, and even though I think it tastes like dirt, I know some people love it. Maybe a nice Merlot, and some Chardonnay. Nice, huh?

For dessert, you chocolate lovers might be sad. I’m planning a delicious pear tartin…that just sounds so unbelievably yummy to me, I can’t resist. Maybe I’ll throw a few little squares of chocolate for the addicts amongst us, and leave it at that. If anyone can still stand up, and wants even MORE wine (you know who you are!) We’ll have another bottle of Veuve Cliquot. And maybe some coffee and tea for anyone who doesn’t want to pass out drunk.

How many shall I expect? I need to buy some more serving dishes, I think, and maybe a new house…

Rack of lamb! You read my mind!

And the only trouble I have with Clos Pegase is that I used to know some people who lived around Calistoga who were protesting the windery`s effects on the local water supply, and they always called it, “Closed Pig Ass,” and now, years later, whenever I drink, any I just can`t seem to shake that lovely image.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I had a cheese course once that left me drooling. They had chocolate and rasberry to dip the cheese in and I thought they were nuts, but it was heavenly. And of course, I forgot the names of all the cheeses.

    I’m totally there!

Here I am feeling guilty about how much I’ve eaten this week and then those pictures go and make me forget all my good intentions to remain fat-free. Yum.

    I’m so there!
You know I adore the lobster and the ravioli, and of course the cheese, but MAN the thought of rack of lamb sounds so perfect right now!
