  • Half-Assing It

I’m not much of a ‘New Years Resolution’ type person, with a couple of exceptions. One year I resolved to eat more pancakes. Since I rarely eat pancakes, that was an easy one. Another year I resolved to floss my teeth more. Actually, that was a resolution MANY years running, until it finally stuck and now I floss my teeth semi-regularly. I’ve seen a lot of posts where blog friends are very organized and planning how many books they are going to read, date nights, etc. I don’t really track that sort of stuff, so I wouldn’t really enjoy that, I don’t think. I have, however, decided to make some…

  • Meme Monday

This isn’t truly a meme, but instead some words of wisdom that I gathered from my bloggy friend Roma 8 years ago, that she posted on Facebook. Does Roma still have a blog? I can’t find her old one, but honestly, I’m not even sure how to look. Should have kept her on the sidebar maybe, but then again, if I removed it it was likely because she wasn’t maintaining it anymore. ANYWAY, the message is timely and one that I try to keep in mind, especially during the holidays. Resist everything except what your heart dictates. If it makes you happy to polish the silver, go for it. If…

  • Meme Monday – Dreaming of France

Allow me to bore you a bit with the plans that my cousin Carey and I have for our upcoming trip to France. We are leaving on Friday, September 9th, and coming home on Monday, September 26th. We are both SO EXCITED, and dreaming of France and the things we will see and do is a lot of fun. Our first week will be in the South of France, in a small village called Mougins. This is where the time share is, and looking online, it looks like a picturesque place. We fly through Paris, into Nice. Hopefully our baggage will make it, as we are taking a chance and…

  • Meme Monday – Catching Up

Looking at this meme, you might think I had been to the beach. Perhaps back to Hawaii. Nope, life has been very local lately. I have no excuse for not posting here, other than laziness. I’ll catch you up, OK? Back in April, I took a drive out to see my Great Aunt for her 98th birthday. One of my cousins arranged a party at her retirement home, which was great. We had family come from as far as San Diego and Reno, and I saw folks I haven’t seen since I was 5 or 6. It was a relaxed event, KFC and strawberry pie. Aunt Flo’s memory is horrible,…

  • Meme Monday

I saw this meme the other day, and it made me laugh. Giving cats medication can be extremely difficult. Ted is deathly allergic to cats, so I haven’t had to deal with this particular problem in almost 40 years. When our sweet dog, Genevieve, was elderly, she had to take a lot of medication. One of the medications she had to take was a particularly nasty tasting powder…I accidentally got some on my finger once and licked it off in a moment of stupidity. Horrible. So she hated it. I worked so hard to get them in her…I used to buy capsules and fill them with the powder, then wrap…

  • Meme Monday – Truthy version

It’s true, right? What else is true… Well, the weather here in California is disgustingly beautiful. As I type this, Sunday in the first few minutes of the Super Bowl, it is 72 and sunny outside. We went for a walk this morning, and commented on our overall good moods being out in such lovely weather. Of course, we are hoping for a wet March, since forecasts are saying the rest of February will be much like the last 6 or 7 weeks have been…dry dry dry. Ted’s brother has an orange tree, and brought us a big bag of oranges yesterday. Today I went out and bought an electric…

  • Meme Monday

Life isn’t actually quite this bad, but I’ve been looking for an excuse to use this meme, so here it is. Have I used it before? I feel like I have. I also hate that they didn’t use quotation marks at the end. One of the most frustrating things about memes, really. When they say what you want, but fail in grammar, spelling, or punctuation. Our Saturday morning started with plans, which for Ted and Maya meant going to get their teeth cleaned, and for me meant going to lunch with a friend…a COVID lunch, as she has an infant granddaughter that she is going to go help care for,…

  • Meme Monday – Omicron

Stupid Omicron sure seems to be making the rounds. I know so many people who have COVID right now, so many more than at any time earlier in the Pandemic. Of course, we have tests (theoretically, since they are hard to find) now, so people have a better chance of knowing that they are infected. Everyone I know who currently has it (OK, not everyone, but 9/10) have been extremely careful and are fully vaccinated, though not all have had a chance to get the booster yet. Early on in the pandemic, when we were all staying home and everything was closed, I thought we were all going to get…

  • Meme Monday

This one rang especially true the other day when my daughter asked me if I had seen her vaccination card. She needed it for work. The last time I remember seeing it was when we were in Maui, though I know she brought it home with her. But where beyond that. Did she carelessly set it down? Or did she deliberately set it down somewhere safe, and forget? The problem with living with other people is that often we don’t know WHO might have set something aside for safe keeping. I assume it was her, it’s her card. But who knows. Maybe I put it somewhere, or my husband did.…

  • NaBloPoMo – Day 30

Here we are, my 30th post in 30 days. I’m pretty much out of ideas, so I am posting this meme that I saw somewhere. We can talk about that. We can talk about avocados and whether we love them or not. We can talk about other foods that are like this. We can talk about memes and how stupid and funny they can be sometimes. Whatever. I’ll start. I adore avocados. I don’t actually find them to be as persnickety as this meme suggests, and I often find myself in possession of perfectly ripe avocados. We had quesadillas for dinner last night, and I diced a lovely avocado, and…

  • Meme Monday – Ready for Christmas?

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice, delicious food, good company, lots of laughs. Overall a winner. After Thanksgiving, we had a little friends and family time. Ted had lunch with his best friend on Friday, and Maya went into San Francisco with a friend to visit another friend of theirs, who recently had an appendectomy. I had to do a bit of work, but not too much. Working from home is a blessing and a curse. I didn’t have to go in to the office, which was the blessing. I did have to work, which maybe I might have avoided if I weren’t so available.…

  • Z is for Zany

I had trouble with this one. What to write about? I dislike zebras, they are brutal murderous wild animals. I did a search for zany questions, and came up with this list. I will take it as is, and try to answer. Seems like a good way to wrap up my A-Z. I intend to write posts through the end of the month, so maybe I’ll be here a few more days before slowing down again. Who knows. My search has 70 questions, and I gave up way before that. Sorry. I felt like the last question I answered was pretty much the last straw. Here goes: 1. Is cereal…
