Meme Monday

OK, not really a meme, more just a funny. See how lighthearted we can be when given the chance? I don’t have a lot to say here today, because it’s Monday morning already and it’s 32 degrees outside and I wish I had known it was going to get that cold, I would have covered my avocado plant with a sheet to protect it. I’m having a cup of tea and waiting for the sun to come up a bit so Mulder and I can go for our walk. One nice thing about wearing a mask outside is that it keeps your face a little warmer.

That’s a bunch of random thoughts, because I haven’t planned anything for you this morning, I generally write in the afternoons or evenings, but I didn’t do it over the weekend and now here we are, and I want to do my meme thing every week…

I will say that I watched a lot more news this weekend than I generally do. Generally I just watch Meet the Press on Sunday mornings, and I don’t know why because Chuck Todd is annoying and says stupid things, but I can’t help myself. Maybe if the world ever gets back to normal, I might be able to skip that part of my weekly routine, I don’t know.

So….what’s up with you?

Our weather is warmer than normal, like in the 80s yesterday. And it is unbelievably clear outside, but the leaves on the trees are drab. I don’t know that I’ve experienced an autumn like this one, both from the weather point of view and political point of view.

Ally, I hope you get some prettier leaves soon! They have been drab here, kind of brown instead of yellow and orange. I noticed this morning on my (chilly!) walk that they are getting better, more yellows and oranges. We have a lot of trees that don’t change color, they either keep their leaves, or the leaves don’t turn bright…but I do enjoy the ones that do!

My BFF lives near Philly, and I noticed that the weather was about 25 degrees warmer there yesterday than it was here. We even got a few drops of rain, which is very welcome, but not much yet.

I forget that the sky is a different kind of blue back East…I think it’s the humidity in your air? It’s so dry here, generally the sky is beautiful.

LOL! I did laugh at this cartoon. Thoap. Hee hee! It just looks so funny.

We’ve been getting a real gift of days that are in the 70s with bright, warm sun. I’m in heaven. I’ve got all the windows open, and my walks are a joy. Taken with the election results for President, I’m feeling so buoyant and centered (can one do that at the same time?).

We had a simple dinner of spicy marinated shrimp and rolls last night with one of the last bottles of our Canadian sauv blanc (this one was aged in concrete casks; so smooth!). It was casual and delicious and a little wistful–our cellar is almost completely depleted of its best wines now. A COVID casualty.

I can’t wait until we’re able to get back up there and restock.

Nance, the combination of beautiful weather, GREAT election results, a delicious dinner with delicious wine….truly a good day! I know you are looking forward to being able to go back to Canada and get more wine soon…perhaps the vaccines they are talking about are the key, and someday Canada will welcome us again? I sure hope so.

If you follow or take a look at Big Head Wines on Instagram (bigheadwines) or on their web page, you can see the concrete tanks and read an explanation of what the concrete does for wine. They bottle it as a Raw vintage.

I’m going to have to check it out! Read a bit about it yesterday, and it seems like concrete tanks are well suited for Sauvignon Blanc, among other wines, which of course you knew already, and there are several places around here doing that. Interesting stuff!
