Friday Randomness
Thanks everyone for your support last week. The other tops arrived on Monday, and I liked two of them! So I bought 8 tops online, kept 3, and returned 5. I consider that a win.

I spotted this little Halloween kitty at the grocery store. Pretty cute, right? But why frowning? It looks so sad.

Also spotted at the grocery store, some cream filled treat that looks like fried chicken but implies (to me at least) that it might be ice cream. Gross and weird, right?
I guess this is a post about things I spotted. I liked this opinion poll that I saw while waiting for my Flu and COVID shots this week. Obviously, I voted yes. I think it’s ridiculous to assume there is no other life in the universe. Also, as far as I can tell, aliens have not visited Earth. I mean, they would have to be so, so far away. But the question was whether they ‘exist’, not whether they are here.
This sign was taped to a light pole in our neighborhood. Sigh. I’m sorry polar bears. Not about AI per se, but just all of it.
OK, this is a lame post and I don’t have a bunch more to tell you.
I’ve been reading good books, watching good TV (are you watching East of Eden on Netflix? WOW, so good), and preparing for my trip to New York and Ohio.
I’m looking forward to getting away from the stupid hot weather here (it was mid to high 90s all week. I’m dreading our electric bill, we had the a/c on most nights), though it’s cooling off starting today.
I’m flying out on a red eye tonight. I was sitting toward the back of the plane, window seat, but people next to me, and low level dreading it. So yesterday I cashed in some airline points and upgraded to premium economy, which might mean a row to myself? I hope so. At least it will mean more legroom. With my gluteal tendinopothy, I was kind of worried about being hemmed in in a tight space. I’m checking my bag, I’m not a carry-on person, so wish me luck. I was happy to use points for this, but it wasn’t a great travel hack, because they were at a 1:1 ratio, meaning I wasn’t getting 1.3x or 1.5x the value of the points or anything. I think you’re supposed to hold out and if it’s a 1:1 deal, just pay the money and save the points for next time, but I had to buy new shoes and a bunch of other things (hey, I liked 3 fancy tops!), so decided to save my cash this time.
I’m behind on my book reviews. Will I write them while I’m gone? Will I blog while I’m gone? Not sure, time will tell. Maybe a picture or two at least. Otherwise, I’ll have some stories to tell in about 2 weeks, surely better than whatever the hell that chicken leg looking artificial food thing was.

Oooh is this your trip to Paris?? I hope so. I hope it’s a beautiful trip! Premium economy in my experience is not a row to yourself (unless no one is with you, I guess) but it’s definitely worth it for the space and also the treats!

Oh, Paris! No, not yet. That’s (hopefully) in the spring. This trip is to upstate New York (whom you do not know) to visit a friend, then Ohio to visit more friends (all of whom you know!)

Why would you make an ice cream treat look like chicken and then name it something Chicken? Too weird and dissonant for me.
We are watching East of Eden, and I find it stressful at times. Florence Pugh deserves an Emmy for her performance. And isn’t the costuming gorgeous?
I am excited for your trip here! Fall colour should be pretty, and you’re going to get plenty of cool weather. Maybe even more than you’d like. (I hope not!)
The cartoon panel at the top of this post reminds me of the embarrassingly high number of photos I took with the lens cap on years ago. I missed SO MANY wonderful shots. Sigh.

I can’t even with that chicken thing. And it’s spendy too!
I’m glad you’re watching East of Eden! She is AMAZING. We’re planning on watching the last episode tonight before my flight.
YAY for leaves! Yay for fall weather!

It’s a very smart thing to upgrade to be more comfortable on a plane. If it’d been left up to me, I would have flown business class to Ireland. I believe in aliens too although I agree with you about them visiting here. Too far away but definitely out there. Hope you have a wonderful time!
J
Thank you Margaret! Yes, Aliens are out there. I don’t claim that they are as smart or as dumb as us, just that mathmatically there must be worlds with life on them.

I do NOT care for that chicken thing, the entire idea makes me uncomfortable.
Also, this post is the opposite of lame. It is fun and I love seeing the things that catch your eye while you’re out and about! Why did the people who insist they are aliens make their announcements on the NO side of the poll??? I like a good poll, and it’s especially gratifying when so many people respond. I would vote YES, too. The universe is so vast. To think we are the only life feels both arrogant and lonely.
HOORAY for your trip!!! I hope you have a wonderful time! Upgrading to more comfortable seats is the perfect use of points.

I hadn’t considered the WHY of those comments, but now I’m thinking about it. I suspect they are arguing with the folks who voted there? Interesting.
So far this morning I still have a row to myself. Fingers crossed!

It will be noce for you to get away from the heat for a spell. We are currently between AC and heating, but the heating will doubtless be invoked sometime this month. We have only made it to Nov 01, once.
J
I love the weather when we don’t need either the heater nor the A/C. I think that will be the weather here while I’m gone, and I’m glad for it. 2 weeks of HOT in August is bad enough, but in October? DUMB.
