Yours Truly
Yours Truly ~ Abby Jimenez
This was a fun rom-com of a book. In it, emergency room doctor Briana Ortiz is in a bad place in her life…she’s in the midst of a divorce, her brother is in desperate need of an organ transplant, she is overwhelmed by life and back living in her childhood home, and she is hoping for a promotion at work, which appears to be in jeopardy due to a new physician, Jacob Maddox, who is also up for the same job.
We all know where this is headed, right? As with any romance novel, it’s the getting there that is all of the fun. And, just like a rom-com, the characters can’t come together too quickly, they have to have misunderstandings and misinterpretations along the way, or else it would be a short essay, not a book.
I liked this book a lot. I liked how they became pen pals, then friends. I liked the honest look at anxiety and how debilitating that can be. I liked the discussion of organ donation. I came to really like both characters. Recommended.
What’s with all the book reviews? I’m participating in NaBloPoMo this month, writing a post a day. I decided that I would write about the books that I have read this year. For more NaBloPoMo participants, check out San’s list.

Hmm. I usually don’t like romance novels. One of these days I’ll give it another chance though. I’m sure there are SOME I would like. This one sounds like a possibility.

It’s not my genre generally either, but I enjoyed this one.

I love Jimenez, so this sounds like a great book for me!

I don’t think I’ve read anything else by her, but I liked this one.

Oh, now this one sounds interesting. I love me a good Halmark movies over Christmas. But it’s been ages since I read a good romcom. Too many miss the mark, for me at least. I might add this one to the library list!
J
Give it a try!

I will! ?

I’ve tried a couple rom-com books and haven’t done too well with them. I haven’t attempted this author though.

I believe she has quite a few, and this one is connected to another book with the same characters, but I didn’t know that and didn’t read the other book.

I liked this book a lot too! It was so funny. I loved the mom, when she was talking about the room with the taxidermy – “all those eyes” – and I really loved how tenderly they wrote about a person with anxiety disorder. I really enjoyed it a lot.
J
I had forgotten about the mom!

Oh this sounds so cute and like something I will read and hope to see in a movie version if for no other reason than to say The book was better. It always is.

LOL, ALWAYS

Until now I wanted to pass on this book but you make it sounds fun to read. Maybe I can find the audiobook and listen to while doing chores.
J
I think that is ideal. I listened to it and enjoyed it!

I love Abby Jimenez on social media, but I haven’t read any of her books yet – I just don’t read a lot of romance, but hers sound a cut above. I will get around to it at some point.
J
I hope you like it, I was surprised that I liked it so much. A fun read.

Jimenez is really hit or miss for me. Really. But this book would have been a perfect romance novel for me except for the decision the main character made about her career at the ending. I’m still not over it and never will be.
J
I”m laughing because it’s been too long and I have no recollection of what decision she made. My memory of books is horrible and I should not have written my review after so much time!
