Wordless Wednesday – Rainbow Eucalyptus in Maui

Nance, aren’t they cool? Here is what I know about them. They are indigenous to the Philippines, and they are the only eucalyptus trees that are indigenous in the Northern hemisphere. There is a lovely grove of them on a very popular all day drive you can take on Maui, The Road to Hana. We didn’t take that drive, so I didn’t see the lovely grove, BUT, on our last day there, we were killing some time after lunch and before our reservation at the aquarium, and drove right by some stupid government building, and there they were! Yay for little miracles, I really wanted to see a few.

Ted thought it was funny that I wanted to see them and take a picture, because I HATE the eucalyptus tree behind our house…but that is completely different, because, 1. The tree behind our house poisons our soil with its stupid leaves, and they are greedy about water and nutrients, so my plants do not do well, and obviously, 2. The tree behind our house is not a RAINBOW eucalyptus.
