Martha, me too! I love everything about it. My husband doesn’t do much dairy or carbs, though he misses them dearly. I made him a sausage and mashed sweet potato, and he splurged and had a tiny bit of this meal. My daughter and I ate the rest. (Well, we didn’t eat ALL of it…there is definitely a lot of bread and cheese left…)
Nance, I could probably eat this meal every day and be happy. The flowers, a gift from a neighbor, made the table extra pretty, which got me to take a picture and post it. Good thing, since I hadn’t posted in awhile…
Ted actually came up with this meal years ago, before his body decided that cheese and carbs were not his friends, and in his version, it includes sausage. He calls it ‘European Dinner’. Sometimes I eat that with him, sometimes I don’t, I am all about the cheese. Maya is vegetarian these days, but thankfully not vegan. I had a leftover baked sweet potato in the fridge, so I made that into a mash for him, as just sausage isn’t much of a meal!
Thanks Ally! It didn’t occur to me until I was trying to figure out what the heck to make for dinner…kind of wanted something meatless (for me and Maya at least), so this was perfect. Bastille Day holds a special place in my heart, as Ted and I were in Paris on Bastille Day on our Honeymoon. We didn’t speak any French, so we missed out on any possible festivities, other than seeing the huge WWII airplanes flying low over the city, and listening to the loud drunk patrons at the bar next to our hotel the night before. If only we had had the internet, it could perhaps have pointed us to where to watch a parade and so on!

That looks perfect, right down to the wine! We have that meal often at the lake.
I will say that sausage and sweet potato mash sounds good as well.

Beautiful presentation and my favorite kind of dinner. I knew it was Bastille Day but didn’t think to celebrate it. You rock.
