A wet winter meant flooding, which means a lot of blueberries didn’t make it. Plus it’s the end of the season. These were imported from Peru. No, I didn’t buy any.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen them this high before. When I mentioned to the checker at the grocery store that I never thought I would spend $8.50 on peanut butter, he said, “I know. Sometimes I just don’t eat.” It’s crazy.
Ally, I have no idea. I mean, for that price one would HOPE so. Ted’s parents had some blueberries the other day from Peru, and his mom said they were not sweet at all. I have no idea whether the tart is related to them being from Peru, or just that they are coming from so far away and clearly out of season.
Also, I am SOOOOO sorry. For some reason, I didn’t have your blog in my Feedly read anymore so I’ve been missing all your posts. Correcting that issue right now. Ugh. I feel awful for missing all this content. I’m back and will be commenting again moving forward!!!!
Elisabeth, no worries at all! We all do our best when it come to commenting. Sometimes life gets in the way and I can’t keep up. I love blogging, but I try not to let it get in the way of real life.
Goodness! I’m stunned. A pint of blueberries here is half that, or less. I think. I don’t care for blueberries, so I could be wrong. I know strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are very cheap right now.
Nance, keep your eyes open next time you are at the market and report back, I’d be curious. Around here, they suddenly disappeared from the grocery store, none to be found. Then they reappeared with these horrible prices. I have some frozen ones, if anyone wants them in their oatmeal, they can use those.
Oh wow I dodnt even get that this was a price. They are expensive here too but not that much. They are not in season so I wont be getting them for a while. The last i’ve gotten were rather sour so I’ll pass for now.
This price though would be my downfall. Blueberries are my favorite.

Wow. Blueberries have been wildly expensive here, too, but not to this level! Makes sense though.

Is that price for real? Those must be some spectacular blueberries!

Yikes. That’s steep. I’ve been going the “frozen fruit” route when possible.
J
San, yes, us too. I’ve gotten some fresh berries for less than this since I posted, but they are still steep.
