Taken By Trees
Last night, I was sitting, trying to finish up my work for the evening, waiting for my stupid Outlook to open so I could send an email, and Ted had gone for a walk with his iPhone and the dog…I looked over at the Party Shuffle he had on his iMac, and one of the songs was Julia, by Taken by Trees. Hmm, I thought, I wonder how long it’s going to take my stupid Outlook to open? I wonder if that’s a cover of the old Beatles tune? So I clicked it, and lo and behold, it was NOT. So, then I thought, I should check out this Taken By Trees, and I did…gosh, seems like Ted told me about her (Taken by Trees is a solo project, so while the artist’s name is Victoria Bergsman, and it seems like I should say Ted told me about THEM, it’s really just one person…) awhile ago, but I can’t remember what he said or who told him about the group, but I like it! Kinda reminds me of a cross between Bjork and Tanya Donnelly. Kinda quiet, and nice, and I’m not sure what’s familiar about her voice. Anyway, here are a few songs for you to check out, so you can see what you think.
If you like it, go buy her album! 🙂
And, by the way, HAPPY FRIDAY! We’re planning on starting off with a nice dinner tonight at one of our favorite restaurants, and sleeping in on Saturday, and Sunday will be an open house…and I’m kinda hoping some people will interrupt us at some point to want to show our place, since not a lot of traffic thus far, and we’re needing the traffic, you know?
Have a great weekend, and I’ll catch you on the flip side!

You know that whistling song I like by PB&J called “Young Folks?” Victoria Bergsman (i.e., Taken by Trees) is the singer featured in the song. I downloaded the album a couple of weeks ago from eMusic and I did play some songs for you. I guess it wasn’t too memorable until you had a chance to actually sit down and listen to the songs.
Glad you like it! 🙂

Have a good weekend!
BTW, Julia is one of my favorite names. One of my childhood friends was named Julia, and it is also a character of Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice”.

That’s a good thing it wasn’t a cover, I’ve never found a Beatles cover that was better than the original.

I’m sorry, but I was cracking up when she kept saying “Yulia.” Definitely reminds me of Bjork, but for whatever reason, and it could just be my mood today, I am finding her voice grating. I like the music behind the vocals, though.

That was interesting. It is one of those artist that I would have to listen to many times to get used to it.
