Sunday 6 (If you include Mulder’s butt)

Here we are at the END of NaBloPoMo, so above is a picture of Mulder’s END. Maya showed me this picture she took one Christmas morning, which I had never seen before. So fluffy!

I’ve mostly run out of steam, but here is a little Sunday Randomness for you.

I saw these two at the weekly protest last week. I’m not sure about being aligned with Antifa, but I am definitely anti fascist.

We went to dinner at a local spot last weekend, and right in my line of site was this poor guy. His light colored belt with his dark jeans looked like a plumber’s crack to me. Warn your friends and family of their fashion choices before they leave the house, is all I have to say.

This is a newer complex in our neighborhood, with no chimneys. How else is Santa supposed to get in?

Lots of TV going on around here. LOTS. We’re enjoying Plur1bus, which is getting to the point where you see what the hell the problem is. Then there’s The Chair Company which is good but very weird. More recently we started the most recent season of Stranger Things and the limited series The Beast in Me. Both very good.

My current audiobook is The Love Songs of W.E.B. Dubois, which is thus far really good. I had a 6 week wait for my next Libby book, so it seemed like a great time to pick a longer book, and this is that book. Initially I ordered the print copy and was overwhelmed by how thick and heavy it was, so I gave it away at a Little Free Library and decided to listen to it instead. It’s almost 30 hours. So far (I have no idea how far in I am, really) but I love it.

That’s it for me for NaBloPoMo 2025. Hopefully things will settle down around here and I can catch up at your place. Generally when I do NaBoPoMo, I write most of my posts ahead of time, so I can focus on reading and commenting. I took a different tactic this year, and it was an error. As always, I am so thankful to San for bringing this community together.

How about you? Did you participate? How did it go for you?

Hilarious way to “end” your NaBloPoMo this year Julie! Plumber butt, haven’t heard that in years LOL. I haven’t had time to read a heck of a lot of others’ blog posts in real time, so I intend to do a lot of catching up. I barely managed to get a post out every day, thank goodness for the scheduling possibilities. Congrats on NaBloPoMo2025 !!!

Congrats on NaBloPo! It’s going to be such a letdown tomorrow with just the normal amount of blog posts in my Feedly.

You are doing a valuable public service in calling out the light belt with the dark pants.

Mulder’s butt is epic! So much fluff!

    Cool picture! So fluffy!!
Congratulations on yet another year of NaBloPoMo! We made it!
I never pre write anything, just don’t have time so I was winding it this year again. It was okay, I didn’t break the chain, and made some bloggy friends.

I read Love Songs on a Hawaiian beach vacation. Definitely an odd choice for a beach read. It’s a very heavy book- literally and figuratively. Basically, every way that America (individuals and society) have wronged African-Americans over 100s of years. It’s important history and a worthwhile read although I wouldn’t recommend it over the holidays (not that you’re asking 🙂

On a related note, there aren’t a lot of holiday fiction books. My book club tried a couple of years ago and ended up with a Hallmark-Christmas-movie-in-book form. It was terrible! If you know of any, please let me know!

I’m not really into holiday themed books, and yeah, I’m not sure Love Songs is a perfect beach read. Then again, if you enjoyed it, and you were on a beach, then yes, it is!

I prefer Mulder’s butt to guy-at-the-bar butt! And those t-shirts are pretty cool too.
Any time I get to read you is a fun/thoughtful time, J! XOXO

It took me a while to see the plumbers’ crack! I’ve seen too many of the real ones, even in class. (and other body parts) I’m happy to be retired. You did an excellent job and wrote thoughtful, interesting and well-illustrated posts. If I had tried the every day posting, they would have only been a few sentences or a paragraph. Perhaps I’m being too hard on myself? I am careful about the tee-shirts I wear because I fear physical confrontation from the other side. It’s hard to believe that anti-fascist is now a bad thing in some circles. 🙁

The belt photo killed me. So funny. And Mulder’s end – to celebrate the end of NaBloPoMo . . . well played. My three middle kids were all about Stranger Things over T-giving. They’ve been waiting for it to come out. My house is in a state. A STATE. I have a post for tomorrow (b/c I didn’t plan well and it’s a continuation of today’s post – I added an extra post in there because I felt our car ride disaster on the way to T-giving needed to be documented), but after tomorrow I might take a little break. I’ve enjoyed every one of your posts this month. Always a treat. And, thank you for the Christmas card. Such a nice surprise.

Congratulations on finishing NaBloPoMo! I enjoyed your posts! I hadn’t planned to take part, so I was winging it too, and I found it freeing somehow. I didn’t do as well on meeting new people as I could have, but maybe now I’ll have time to check out their blogs.

  • NGS

Congrats! You did it! You posted every day! You’re amazing!

I had a goal to comment on at least five blogs every day and I think I did it! I didn’t fall too behind during NaBloPoMo and I have to admit that feels like an accomplishment.

    • J

I think 5 comments a day is a great goal, and keeps it from feeling like a chore. I may try to remember that for next year.

  • Elisabeth

I didn’t participate this year but it still felt…SO BUSY! I was horrible at commenting on new blogs. I just don’t have the bandwidth so I am telling myself to feel zero guilt. But I loved seeing more posts than usual from my “regular” blog friends.
That said, I am SO glad NaBloPoMo is over!!!! I was feeling stressed by the number of posts in my Feed reader each day!
    That inflatable Santa is hilarious.

Whenever I see a really fluffy dog, I think, “That is a part-time job right there.” We have a beautiful Alaskan malamute in our neighbourhood named Sterling. He is magnificently fluffy and huge. All I can imagine is the hours and hours of brushing, and the constant vacuuming and lint-rolling that must go on in his home.

But I look at Mulder’s sweet, endearing face and think SO WHAT? SO WORTH IT.

    • J

Totally worth it! And yes, we would vacuum RIGHT before people came over (as well as every day) and still there was no guarantee that the dark red rug would not be covered in hair. Genevieve shedded a lot, but not nearly as much as Mulder. And Theo, the dog we babysat for a weekend? OMG, he shed more than Gen and Mulder combined. Maybe stress?

  • Suzanne

I have really been enjoying your daily posts, even though I have failed at commenting daily.

That plumber’s crack illusion is hilarious!

So much good TV. We have not started Plur1bus, but it’s on my list. We did watch the first episode of Stranger Things, though. Such a good series.

  • Jenny

I loved NaBloPoMo, as I always do. My only regret is that I didn’t read and comment on as many blogs as I wanted. In the beginning I was checking out everyone who participated, but by the end I was pretty much just following the same ones over and over again. I’m still planning to go back and visit some of the blogs I missed.
    Love that Santa decoration!!!

  • Stephany

Congrats on finishing! As I am still commenting on NaBloPoMo posts six days late, my commenting game isn’t up to par, lol.

MULDER’S BUTT. OMG. I love it so much!

We lived in an apartment growing up and my mom said that Santa just knocked on the door to deliver the presents. I was very concerned how he was supposed to get into an apartment with no fireplace!

    • J

Your mom is smart, that’s what I would have said too.

You’re catching up on NaBloPoMo posts? Good for you! I’ve let them all go. I kind of want everyone to pick their favorite post that they wrote and let me know, since I missed so many! LOL.
