Queen Mary 2 Enters San Francisco
Did anyone see this on the news or in person? We didn’t go to SF to watch, but WOW, that’s a big ship. So big she had to sail around the Cape, because she won’t fit through the Panama Canal. Whew. Photo courtesy the SF Chronicle, and you can find more pictures here.

oh.. is she still here?
Check out all of the ships that sailed along side her to watch!. I wonder how much room there was between her and the bridge… not much I bet.

I think I read there was about 27 feet, so yeah, not much. She leaves tonight. I’m assuming they have to wait for low tide, so she doesn’t bonk the bridge or anything. Next stop, Hawaii!

That is a gigantic ship!

How romantic! What is it about ships that brings out the sighs? And the Q Mary 2–what elegance. I love the picture.

Good God, but that’s gigantic! I would love to see the inside!

How majestic! I read the story from your link, and it seems like something out of a different decade–a ship being welcomed by a city. I love it!

I wish I could have seen her. Michael was watching something on how they actualy made that ship piece by piece.

It was docked in Brooklyn of all places last year (if I’m not mistaken – it might have been the other queen whatever shop) and lord, that thing is a floating city, isn’t it? That picture is outrageous.

Wow is right. She makes all of the other ships/ boats look like toys.

I saw the QE II years ago when she visited the city. Beautiful, especially at night. I worked with ships for years. Wish I could have seen this one.
Those Panamax vessels are huge.
