Playing with ChatGPT
The other day, a friend posted a ChatGPT generated picture of her horse as a human on Facebook. Immediately I wanted to see what Mulder would look like as a human, so I went to ChatGPT and tried to load a photo. You have to have an account (free). So I signed up for an account, but instead of loading a photo, I asked it to show me what a Keeshond would look like as a human. Chat asked me if I wanted male/female/androgynous, and I said androgynous. It asked for personality, and I said kind of loud.

This is what I got. I love the grey hair, which matches a Keeshond. I’m not sure about the slightly furrowed brow. Perhaps this person is wondering whether that sound is actually the mailman and if they are going to need to kill anyone today?

Next I asked Chat to make my picture more masculine, and Chat went for it. I think the mailman might be in real trouble now.

Mulder always had a young vibe, though, so I asked that my person be younger, no beard. I think this is how Mulder might see himself, because he thought he was VERY fierce.

Last, I uploaded a photo of him and started over. This is the picture I posted, where he is obviously very happy and feeling great. Also begging for a treat.

This is what I got. What a happy young man, the mailman is probably going to get a high five today. While Mulder saw himself as fierce and quite dangerous, I suspect this is closer to his real personality.
This was a fun experiment, but I will admit that I felt guilty doing it because AI takes SO MUCH energy. I remember someone saying, “THIS is what you’re boiling the oceans for?” Apparently yes, this is what I’m boiling the oceans for. Sigh. Why can’t life just be stupid fun without the guilt?

My fave is the young person at the end, but none of them even come close to Mulder’s awesomeness!
Your friend’s horse person picture is funny though!
(In addition to listing all the other reasons for not using AI, I’ve started putting a statement in my syllabus about how much energy AI takes to guilt students into not using it.)

When I showed these to Ted, he said the eyes were wrong. No sparkle. My Mulder definitely had a wonderful sparkle in his eyes!

It’s fun to play, and play, you did.

I’ll admit it was fun. I considered going further and trying to get something funnier like my friend’s, but decided I had boiled the oceans enough for one day.

This is exactly what AI should be used for and exactly how you should be spending your time, so mad props. The other thing that I can tell is that Mulder didn’t just beg for a treat – he got that treat!
J
SO MANY TREATS. I used to love how he could hear me peeling a carrot (or maybe he smelled it?) from across the house, and would run downstairs and plop himself down with a big smile on his face and say, “Oh, we’re having carrots now? GREAT!”

I just did this for my cats and my mom’s dogs, so I’ll have to show the results soon. The photos were EXCELLENT, haha.
Ugh, every time I see a photo of Mulder, I fall more in love. He was such a sweet doggo!
J
Oh Stephany, Mulder was the BEST. I mean, he barked a lot (Sir Bark a Lot) and he barfed a lot, but goodness, what a darling he was.

I like the young man at the end, but Mulder is WAY better! John is very into Chat GPT but I’ve never done anything with it.
J
Mulder is WAY better. AI is flawed.

I have never used AI! We had a conversation about it at a work happy hour last week. I was the only one who hadn’t at least tried ChatGPT or something similar. Phil had used it sparingly for coding purposes at work.
One of those Mulder photos really resembles Ben Affleck! But none can compare to the beauty and attitude of Mulder!

This was my first time trying out AI, I doubt I will get into it much. I think it can be helpful for some things, but I worry about how much energy it takes.
And Mulder…what a darling boy he was!

I have used AI before but never for pictures. I now want to do my two kitties who already passed (2020 and 2024). I actually do like ChatGPT for roadtrip prompts, and explanations. I could have googled all that but ChatGPT makes it more accessible and it’s “almost” like talking to a human. Sadly.
Anyway, I really do like all the pictures!

I know, AI has so many positives, and so many negatives. This was fun though.

I’m glad you finally got a smiley one because Mulder was always so genial-looking and exuberant in photos that you shared.
The horse gentleman is super intriguing, I will say, in a Phantom of the Opera sort of way.
J
Nance, YES! Phantom of the Opera!

It can be fun to play around with AI. And yes we are boiling the oceans with it. At least you are aware.
I actually liek the lady. she looks wild.

The androgenous one is my favorite of the ones that were generated without a picture, for sure.

I hate using Chat GPT because I know how many resources it uses, but I couldn’t resist and I asked for a photo of what Hannah the Dog looked like when she was a puppy. I nearly squealed with delight, even though it obviously has no way of knowing what she looked like. I am done now. No more adorable faux puppy photos for me.

Oh shit…now I want to see what our girl Genevieve looked like as a puppy! Maya stalked Mulder’s prior people on Instagram, so we have his baby pictures. MUST RESIST THE TEMPTATION – DO NOT BOIL THE OCEAN.
