Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance ~ Alison Espach
Sally and Kathy are teenaged sisters in small town Connecticut. Kathy is a few years older than Sally, she is finishing her Junior Year of High School while Sally is finishing up 7th grade. Both girls have been obsessed with Billy Barnes, graduating senior and basketball star, since he jumped off the school roof a few years prior. Eventually Kathy starts dating Billy, leaving Sally behind.
In Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance, Sally is telling Kathy the story of her life and everything that has transpired, from the vantage point of 15 years in the future. This is a story of profound grief, guilt, forgiveness, and a broken family trying to heal. I really liked Espach’s The Wedding People, so I decided to give this book a try as well. I didn’t love the ending, but otherwise the story rang true to me and I enjoyed it. Recommended. Bonus, I love the narrator who was reading the story, she did great voices and really brought some of the side characters to life.

I also listened to this one and loved it. Currently on The Adults and it makes me VERY NERVOUS because the main character is a wreck. But also I really like it.

I’ve heard good things about The Adults…maybe my next of her novels?

I liked but didn’t love The Wedding People. I do enjoy books about gaining perspective and healing though. Perhaps this would be a better choice for me than the WP.
