My Thoughts on Paris…

In between Buy Me, the ever pessimistic view of the real estate market, and a repeat of the always charming Groundhog Day the other night, I found myself briefly watching the obnoxious TVGuide Channel, which was busy crowing about Paris Hilton checking into prison. For the first time ever, I found myself feeling a little bit sorry for her, as the vultures joked about what her roots will look like when she gets out of prison.

Prior to this, I have never felt the remotest sympathy for Paris. She’s a spoiled brat media whore, famous for sex tapes, partying, and having a crappy attitude. She has more money than God, and in this culture, money = power. And yet…for someone to emerge from childhood this spoiled and vacuous, this self-important and shallow, can only point to one thing. Bad parenting. Really, really bad parenting. I sometimes wonder if this girl ever had a chance to grow up into a decent, caring person. And, like a spoiled toddler who finally learns the concept of limits the first time an exhausted parent utters the heretofore unheard word, “NO”, I wonder if maybe she might learn something while in prison, about consequences, and maybe grow a bit from it.

The media wouldn’t like that one bit, though. They created this creature, for without the constant barrage of paparazzi following her and making a party queen into a cultural icon, she would be nothing more than an uber-rich spoiled brat. She’s not MUCH more than that now.

So when I have these small thoughts of hope for her salvation, I realize the chances of any of it actually happening, vs. her faking it for the media, are pretty slim, and she’ll continue to be the same worthless being she has always been.

For her sake, I hope not.

She’s a sad story. I agree with you that bad parenting is part of her problem. I wish her well, but wonder if she’ll ever understand what being a grown-up is all about.

Yes I agree, it is bad parenting. Even though she’s having to pay for her mistakes, the whole experience will be like falling in a huge pile of crap and coming out smelling like a rose.

    Poor Poor Paris!

I dunno how much was poor parenting. Her sister, Nickie, isn’t in the limelight as much anymore and is supposingly off doing her designy stuff. I think Paris is pushing the boundries of her fame and trying to see how much more riches she can make from it. At least she isn’t one of those celebs who cry about their privacy, instead she see’s it as a money making opportunity. Kinda entrepreneurial really.

I can’t believe I just took the time to write about how I feel about Paris.

Cherry, You and me both! HA!

I think with proper parenting, Paris wouldn’t be the spoiled brat that she is, and wouldn’t have gotten herself into this situation. Doesn’t mean that parents can always prevent problems, or that all kids of crappy parents will turn into sex-tape making media whores. Just means, that’s how I think she came out this way. And the media is her bitch, you know? Myself included, perhaps, since I’ve devoted this much space to her already, even though I’m not media…

This is getting all twisty, huh?

I kinda agree with Cherry. Paris’ sister, Nicki, seems to have turned out okay (after she settled down a little). Paris would probably be a snotty little turd even if her parents weren’t disgustingly wealthy. Some people are just like that. The time in the big house will do her nothing but good. She needs a taste of the real world.

And sadly, although it is the parenting that is the root of the problem, it is the child who pays. With bad parenting, it is always the child who pays. Sometimes others as well, and occasionally society as a whole. But, the parents seem to get off with little cost to themselves.

I agree with Py and smell a book deal in the near future. You’re right about money and power. Somehow the rich doesn’t seem to have any fear of consequences.

Poor little rich girl. I know she is technically not to blame for her parents sucking at raising her, but you would think that possibly somewhere along the line, someone would have been an example to her.

Well, if she had any character, she would rise above her parenting (like perhaps her sister has done, though it’s too soon to tell in my book.) But so far, Paris has shown herself to be concerned mainly with money and fame. And all else is besides the point. I haven’t glimpsed anything remotely resembling character yet.

The real sad part is that they released her already?
Medical/Mental reason’s they say? She might have to go back? I sure hope so!!!!!!!!

You cannot change a spotted dog, or a stripe tiger. Oh maybe you can if you use hair dye, but then the dye wears off and the spots or stripes come back.
    Same goes with Paris.

    I did “Paris Needs” LOL

    Paris Needs Help

Paris needs to be back in jail

    Paris needs Psychiatrist

Paris needs 2 get over herself!

    Paris needs to grow up.

Paris needs to learn that she’s a spoilt, untalented hoe who has nothing worth paying for.
