Mulder’s Fabulous Friday!
Hi everyone, this is J’s puppy-boy (PB), Mulder, and I’m here to tell you about the Fabulous Friday that I just had! I have three bosses, my Big Boss, (Ted), my Medium Boss (Julie, aka, J), and my Little Boss, Maya. Medium Boss and I started out the day with a nice walk downtown, She thought we might try to find some new pianos to take my picture with, but they are gone. She was sad about this, but really, I can’t play piano very well, and during rainy season, it is probably a bad idea. Is she even thinking? In the place of the pianos, there is a lot of Christmas decor. She took my picture here, outside of the Santa area. We were here a bit before 8am. I think Santa sleeps in, because we didn’t see him OR any elves.
We like to walk around on Fridays, and for some reason, Medium Boss really likes to take my picture. She likes this fountain, so I am humoring her.
This is a stupid picture, see how the sun is right in my eyes? What was she thinking. She was thinking that if she didn’t have me in tow, she would go inside this bakery and see if the croissants are as good as they look, and if they are anything close to as wonderful as the ones she had recently in France. Since she didn’t take me to France(!!!) with her, I have no idea. She says they look pretty darned good. I would happy test them out with her, but she read somewhere that cancer cells thrive on carbs, so she has stopped giving me any kind of bread treats. Stupid.
She said she liked this little alleyway, but I think I’m ready for breakfast. I mean, I had breakfast at home, but that was kibble, and I’m hoping she will stop and get something to share with me, which she sometimes does.
Look at this little ‘car’! It has 3 wheels and only one seat. I don’t have a license, so she never lets me drive, though I sometimes try. This car doesn’t have a seat for me. Non starter in my book.
We found a mermaid!
And some fish! Not near the mermaid, oddly enough.
Here I am in the elevator at the Capital One Cafe, where my Medium Boss likes to go to use the bathroom. She takes me right in with her, which I like. The people here forgot to give me a cookie on this day. Sad.
Medium Boss was trying to get a picture that included the mannequins in the store, because one of them was wearing a top that she thought was beautiful and would be perfect to wear on Thanksgiving, but there was too much glare. But the fact of the matter is that this store is far too expensive, and she should not be spending over $300 for a shirt. She has to spend her money on toys and treats for me. And she said the vet bills for my chemo treatment are expensive and not nearly as fun as a $300 shirt. To which I said I would happily give up going to the vet and she could buy her shirt, but really, I’d much rather have toys and treats. And maybe a steak.
Finally, we’re at my favorite Starbucks! There are quite a few Starbucks in our town, 3 within walking distance of our house, but this is my favorite one. It is the one that we sometimes go to on Friday mornings, just the two of us. If we go here, she will get a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, and give me some. She used to give me some of the muffin it is on, but nowadays only gives me the egg, cheese, and sausage. I like the muffin, but I like the egg, cheese, and sausage more, so that’s OK.
Now we’re on our way home again. Sometimes on Fridays we go out for 2 or 3 hours, but today was less, Medium Boss said she has an appointment. Do you see my seat belt? It’s a harness that I wear, and then it clicks in. This is to keep me from driving, I think. Not fair.
After we got home, Medium boss went and took a shower (why does she do that every time she starts to smell the least bit interesting?), and left me home alone. I took a nap. I love a good nap. Then my Big Boss came home, and this is when the day got REALLY good. We got in the other car, and drove to San Francisco! I could not believe my good fortune! Two trips in one day? Medium Boss took this picture of me on the Bay Bridge. Look at that water! Are we going to go swimming? I’ve never been swimming, but I’ll bet I would be good at it.
In San Francisco, we went to a little carnival type thing, which was crowded and had a LOT of kids. Kids love me, because I am very fluffy and a very good boy. Big Boss said we were there to see when they light up the buildings behind the carnival for ‘the holidays’. Who cares? Not me. But boy, this is EXCITING being here with so many things to smell and see! I LOVED it.
Here I am with my Big Boss. Kind of blurry photo, but still, we look handsome.
Here I am with my Medium Boss. See how the picture is in focus? That means my Big Boss is better at taking pictures than my Medium Boss. That’s OK, she has other qualities. Like she shares her egg sandwiches with me.
This is the ferry building. Big Boss and Medium Boss had dinner at a restaurant on the other side of the building. They enjoyed it, but didn’t give me even a single bite. Rude. I had to sit under the table, and Medium Boss tried to keep me from eating things that were on the ground, but she was unsuccessful. I mean, come on.
Now it’s time for pictures of what they came to see. Here’s the before. I could not care less.
Apparently, this is a Big Deal, and they had to make a lot of noise about it. What the heck? Let me tell you, I BARKED and told them to stop it with the noise! How stupid could they be?
Here’s the after, still a little smokey though. They’ve been lighting these buildings up for the holidays for many years, but this was the first time my bosses went to watch, even though a LONG time ago (before Little Boss was born even), they lived in San Francisco. I love San Francisco. I’ve never been to this part before, usually they take me to the park, or to the ocean, or sometimes the bay.
After this, we went back to the car (another elevator!) and came home. Let me tell you, this was one FABULOUS Friday! I hope we do this every week!

Oh, Mulder. I would definitely ask if I could pet you. It sounds like you had a wonderful day and I’m so glad you’re feeling well enough for those wonderful outings.
J
Mulder says to say, “Thank you” and he wags his tail in a happy way. I’m surprised at how many times he said ‘stupid’ in this post. He’s such a cheerful guy! He was so stinking happy on Friday, he really loves adventures.
San
What an awesome day you had, Mulder! I am glad Big and Medium boss took you along on such an adventure. You look very happy (and yes, fluffy and friendly and would have definitely liked to pet you :)).
P.S. That was a fun post, J. So happy to meet Mulder!
J
Thanks San, Mulder is a very good boy and yes, he is a very happy boy!
Meike
Sounds like Mulder and his bosses had a good day. It was so fun to read. Love how festive the city looks. I can’t believe that it’s already time for Christmas decorations. Somehow it feels early this year.
J
Meike, I agree that it feels early. But here we are. I love how festive the city looks too. 🙂
Elisabeth
This was definitely the most fun post I’ve read all month. Mulder has real potential as a writer, and I really hope he continues to post pieces.
J
Thanks Elisabeth! I passed your compliment on to him, and he wagged ‘thanks!’
Jenny
I think Mulder DEFINITELY deserves a big outing every single Friday, and more sausage and eggs! I wonder what a post would look like from the point of view of my cat- one thing for sure, she wouldn’t be referring to me as her “boss” ha ha…
J
Hmmm…food pimp? Friendly ape? Servant?

What a huge day for such a sweet, handsome dog. Each picture is better than the last.
Such a good boy!
J
Thanks Nance! He is very handsome, isn’t he? And yes, a VERY good boy. Even if he does try to eat everything he finds on his walk.
Margaret
Your dog is gorgeous! I love the photos of the city. Only been to SF a couple times.
J
Thank you Margaret! Yes, he’s a gorgeous boy, isn’t he? He’s the sweetest dog. We’re definitely smitten. We are fortunate to live so close to San Francisco.
