Meme Monday

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, wonderful, peaceful, joyful holidays to all who celebrate them. Our Christmas plans include dinner at Ted’s parents’ house, which will be ‘white people Christmas’, as Ted put it. Standing rib roast, mashed potatoes, peas with pearl onions, and pumpkin pie. For Ted’s mom, who is pescatarian, salmon tikka masala. For Maya, who is also pescatarian but not really a big fan of most fish (??), fake turkey cutlets as she can’t think of anything she would like more.

Our Hanukkah plans will be pushed back, as his family doesn’t celebrate. We will have latkes and such on the 26th. For those who are new here, we are neither Jewish nor Christian, but we love the holidays and celebrate them both.

In other news, Maya received these amazing socks from a coworker, and I could not possibly love them more. I love the rain, and so does she. But she reminded me of the parameters: “I cannot need to be anywhere with nice hair and makeup and clothes. If I’m dressed for the rain and have nowhere to be, it’s lovely. But if I have to be somewhere and it ruins my makeup and makes my hair frizzy, it sucks.” Amen sister.

I’m now looking at the whole Willy Wonka story quite differently. Thank you.

    SO TRUE!

If those socks were about snow, I’d share your love and admiration even more. But they’re still terrific socks.

That Grandpa Joe. He’s the worst. And he is the one who encourages Charlie to drink the fizzy lifting drink, AND when he gets called out on it, wants to take the Everlasting Gobsmacker to Slugworth. I get it, my Grandpa was a jackass too, and I loved him anyway. But really.

It looks like you will be kept busy with your two celebrations. We got a little bit Jewish for one or two Christmases when we had a Jewish DiL, but really, she was so thrilled to be a part of Christmas.

Happy everything J! I hope that you have fun at your White People dinner and your Ted dinner! I am with Maya in that I love the rain but not when I have somewhere to be, or when I am on a bike riding in it for hours and then have to set up a wet tent and get into it and sit there. I feel the same about snow; it is lovely to look at, if you don’t have to drive in it, or shovel it or walk all day in it and then set up a wet tent and get into it and sit there. I guess you could call it the “camping test!”

O wow. I never analyzed Grandpa Joe’s life choices before, but really–WTF, Grandpa Joe?

But over to sweet folk–here’s to a lovely, cozy Christmas and Hanukkah with family to you and yours, Jules! (Lol on Ted calling it ‘white people Christmas’ and chuckle on Ms. Maya being pescatarian and not liking most fish.)

LOL on the fish thing. I think she would give up fish entirely, but she loves sushi too much. And as long as she is eating sushi, she will also eat fish and chips, and ONCE IN A WHILE, crab cakes, though I don’t think she really likes them much.

Anything involving trying out different food over the holidays, I am so there. And honestly, salmon tikka masala sounds delicious right about now in a week where I might have to wade my way through way too much meat offerings.

And those socks are the cutest!

I love the rain too but get plenty of it here! Sometimes an excessive amount. It’s wonderful to celebrate multiple holidays; that way you can get the most out of the season. (and the food!)
