Meme Monday

Mostly just the meme today, since I told you everything that I was going to do over the weekend, and now it’s Monday and I have to work and get things under control there. A few notes…

In Stockton yesterday, we stopped to get BLTs for lunch with my Great Aunt, and there was some kind of Christmas festival going on in the shopping center. So we saw some sheriffs deputies on horse back, and Santa on a firetruck. I looked it up later and there were also reindeer to pet, and a snow machine (it was 70 degrees) for the kids. Seems like a really bad idea in the time of exponential COVID growth, but there we are anyway.

Aunt Flo is doing well, if a little wobbly. She mentioned to me on the phone that if I brought Ted, she might not know what to say to him since she hasn’t spent much time around men in her life. But then she chatted to him happily, as she always does. He fixed her screen for her (just needed some oil, it was sticking), and she was thrilled.

We watched The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix, which we loved. It was really good. The Crown came out yesterday, we watched 2 episodes when we got back from Stockton. It’s in the early 80s now, so we have Margaret Thatcher and Lady Diana. We always enjoy The Crown. Ted and I are watching The Undoing on HBO…that’s a once a week thing, no binging. It has Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, and is compelling. And we’re enjoying the new season of The Great British Baking Show, which was filmed during COVID. They handled that by being a pod and isolating from the rest of the world. Always gentle good fun. Yes, we watch a lot of TV. We can’t go anywhere or do anything, so we plop down in front of the TV a lot.

That’s it for now…

Cute meme. Good question. I’m looking forward to starting to watch the new season of The Crown, but won’t binge watch it. It must be savored. Haven’t started The Queen’s Gambit but am looking forward to it, too. If we’re staying home for the holidays, and we are, then we need to space our TV shows so that new ones last for as long as possible.

I kind of cheated on this one, it was an ad for a TShirt that came up on Facebook. But it was so cute I took a screenshot for you.

We alternate between binging and savoring, and we are fine with re-watching old shows, so it works out OK. I hope you enjoy The Queens Gambit. I never thought a show about chess could be so enthralling…

So many people whose taste I trust have now recommended The Queen’s Gambit, that I am going to have to watch it. YAY! A new show.

We are so glad The Crown is back. It will take all of our restraint and willpower not to binge it in one weekend. That show casts its roles impeccably.

And I am always so charmed and smitten by The Great British Baking Show. I could watch it every day for the rest of my life, no lie.

I meant to comment on your cute cartoon last time, since it punned my favourite book, and I forgot. You are finding really funny things to make us smile. Today’s is a chuckly one as well. I needed it; we are having waves of snow showers. Wet and not sticking, but snow nonetheless. Sigh.

Nance, that’s why I started watching The Queen’s Gambit…so many people were suggesting it. I think we would binge The Crown if Ted didn’t work late and Maya didn’t work early…we can generally only get one episode in before it’s time to stop for the evening.

I’m glad you liked the meme last time, I curated it for you especially. I am Facebook friends with my High School Trig teacher, who did not manage to pass any skills in trigonometry my way, but did manage to pass on a lot of knowledge about how to be a good, kind, decent person. He is disgustingly fond of puns, and often puts forth some very funny memes, which I grab and save for my blog.

I love this little hedgehog, so cute.
