I’m not sure how I feel about this…

I’m such a huge Buffy fan, and yet…and yet, not so sure that I’ll be enjoying reading about the adventures of the Scooby Gang via the comic book genre rather than seeing them on Tuesday evenings via my TV screen. Will it satisfy me? Will it satisfy Maya, who was crushed by the idea that Buffy was no longer the only slayer (well, aside from Kendra, who died, and Faith, who didn’t, but I digress…)? Will we become obsessed, I mean, MORE obsessed than we already are? Will we become huge comic book fans? I shudder to think. I’ve never really been a fan of comic books, except maybe Betty and Veronica when I was young, but… (and here I mean no offense to those of you who make a living at this (Melissa) but my brother is into comic books, and boy, they can add up pretty quickly, money wise…)
But I must admit…I’m intrigued to find out what’s happened to all of the characters since the final TV episode. From Entertainment Weekly:

“The final episode of Buffy: The TV Show saw Buffy’s base of operations, Sunnydale, collapse into the earth after an apocalyptic throwdown with a super-bad known as The First and a hoary host of blood-sucking demons. She had been liberated from her vamp-killing responsibilities, having empowered thousands of girls across the world with Slayer superpowers. For the first time in her life, Buffy knew freedom.”

Oh dear. March huh? I guess I’ll have to wait. Semi-patiently….

UPDATE: For those of you who didn’t click the link, the thing that has me intrigued about this is that Joss Whedon wrote the first 3 or 4 comics in the series…if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t even pay attention…the episodes that he wrote for TV were ALWAYS the best of the bunch…

    Wow, Buffy in comic book form? Dunno. I liked comic books as a kid (like you, it was the Archie comics), but now? Well, hmmmm…I guess if you and Maya are big fans, then it might be worth a look.

    girlfriend, my bread and butter might come partially from comics, but i am NO fan. my idea of hell is either a) a comic book convention or b) a comic book shop. not to bite the hand that feeds me, but i have no interest, and don’t blame you for not wanting to jump on the bandwagon. buffy was SO good in it’s heyday, wasn’t it? i’m afraid these comics would leave you with a sour taste in your mouth for the whole buffy franchise… kind of a “jump the shark” feeling.

    I’m happy for Buffy, of course, and think that the whole Buffy thing could end right there. Comic books don’t sound all that great to me. Let the poor girl have her time off.

    I bet they could do quite a bit with her in a comic book, although knowing what she looks like, etc. might ruin it for me, since usually they do it the other way around.
