Home from Alaska!
We flew home from Alaska last night, we had a wonderful time. 11 days, and we went to Fairbanks, Anchorage, Homer, and Juneau. I have a lot to say and am still figuring out how I want to write about it here. I think I will end up making a lot of smaller posts, to avoid overwhelming with a ton of pictures and so on. For now, here is a picture I liked, from Homer. Loved this little otter just hanging out near the boats.

Oh, I love Alaska and hope you had a marvelous time and some decent weather. I’ve been to Homer twice; it’s a very special place. My friend used to live in Anchorage so that’s why I’ve visited AK three times. I haven’t been to Juneau or Fairbanks but we did head to Seward and did a Kenai Fjords cruise–amazing! I bet you have SO much to share that it’s overwhelming.

Thanks Margaret! Spoiler alert, we went to the bakery you suggested in Anchorage and it was wonderful. Alaska is big and beautiful, and I don’t spend much time with my family (due to distance) so I am deciding how to write about it here.

Glad you had a wonderful time! Never been but it’s on the list!
J
Daria, welcome! Alaska is so magnificent, and we went to different regions so saw a lot of very different things. I hope you go someday.

Welcome home! Great photo. What a long visit to your homeland. I look forward to reading and seeing whatever you decide to share. I haven’t been to Alaska for almost twenty years.
J
Thanks Nance, yes, it was a long visit, and I’m thankful for that. Perhaps it’s time to go back to Alaska for you? It’s so expensive, though, so I haven’t been many times. I lived there (as you know) from when I was 4 until I was 9. Other than that, I’ve been back twice. Visited my mom and Richard and Kathy with Maya in 1999, which she doesn’t remember (she was 3), which was Juneau only. Then I flew up to Anchorage when my mom was hospitalized in 2008, which was February so dark and cold, and definitely not a fun time. This was a great trip.

Welcome home! Yes to breaking up your trip into a several posts because (at least in my experience) it’s too hard to fit a trip into one post. I’d love to read it!
J
Thanks Beckett, yes, that is my thought as well. I don’t want to overwhelm myself or my blog friends, so best to break it up.

The otter is perfect, stealing the show as they are wont to do. Happy to know you’re back home, looking forward to reading about your experiences.
J
Thanks Ally, yes, that otter is indeed perfect.

I am looking forward toreading aboutt your adventures. Alaska is a destination in mynuckett list. Not sure I will ever make it so I live vigourasily through others.

Alaska is expensive for us, and we live comparatively close. Even worse from Germany, plus a LONG flight. However, it’s stunning if you get the chance.

I look forward to your stories and photos. I only spent a few days in Alaska but I stayed in a town in the bush in far western Alaska and experienced an earthquake in Anchorage. Also went down to see the glacier and stopped at the mud flats. And there is just so much more to see!
J
Wow Zazzy, you saw some off the beaten path things, to be sure!
San
Excited to hear about your trip!
J
Thanks San!

J
Thank you Stephany! Alaska is bucket list worthy.
