Friday Thoughts…

Nothing big today…

  • We saw the film, Proof, the other night. It was OK…not GREAT, not sucky. Mostly what I thought was that Gwenyth looks like the movie star version of my sister, Maya, which made me think of Laura Dern looking like the movie star version of me, and wondering who the movie star version of my sister, Melissa is…maybe Emily Longstreth, whom I thought looked like Melissa back in 1989, when she played Kevin Bacon’s girlfriend, Susan, in “The Big Picture”, which was a great movie, by the way. I’m not sure who else Melissa looks like. Someone, I’m sure. That got me to wondering about my brother, but I haven’t thought of any movie star versions of him yet.
  • We had this dish for dinner last night. Very yummy.  Thanks for the recipe, Beenzzz! We used lamb, and really, it reminded me of a dish you would get at an Indian restaurant.  The only bad part was that I didn’t realize I was out of ground cumin and ground corriander until I needed them, so I had to put it on hold and go to the store.  Luckily, this dish starts out with prepping one thing, and then the other, and everything can sit and wait until you’re ready to put it all together.  Whew.  I swear, one day, I’m going to have an organized spice rack or drawer or something.  We have 3 or 4 containers of dried basil, but no corriander?  That’s insane.
  • It’s finally raining here…if you live in a state that should by the laws of nature be desert, and it’s farm land and big cities, you know how grateful we are for the rain, and how screwed we shall be as global warming escalates.
  • I started working out in the mornings to Gilead on Fit TV. We used to work out to Gilead way back in 1993, and while I know that getting a video or going to a gym or whatever might be better, this is day 6 for me, and so far, it’s working. I’ll let you know in a month if it’s helping. For some reason I feel this real need to work on my muscles and bones, now that I’m in my 40s. Never really worried me much before. Plus, bathing suit season will be here before you know it…meaning, well, May or June….
  • Don’t forget to set your TiVo or whatever if you’re into the Police.  They’re performing at the Grammys on Sunday.  Py tells me that they’re also playing a very exclusive gig at a club afterwards, for some lucky ducky folks.  Wish I were a lucky ducky folk.  Sigh.

I guess that’s it for today…nothing that interesting.  I’m thinking we might be shopping for a new stove and microwave this weekend.  We’ll see. Happy Friday!

You have a lot of people in your family that look like movie stars! 🙂

I also made that dish of Beenzzz’s, but made it with beef. Very yummy! Funny thing, I have LOADS of cumin (my fav spice) and coriander in my cupboard as I use them a lot in my cooking. Also, ground ginger is a must.

Great job on exercising! I’m right with you on that kind of thinking. Aging into a new decade and what comes with it has really put things into perspective for me lately. I figure if I take care of my body now, it’ll definately make things much better in the long run.

Have fun shopping this weekend 🙂

    A. You look just like Laura Dern, I’m not surprised many people have said so.

    B. Do you mean THE POLICE as in Sting, Stuart Copeland and Andy Whatshisname? Wow! Sometimes, I get so bummed about being in a country where they won’t have that on tv.

Happy Friday to you, too. I saw Proof a few months ago, and it really keeps you guessing right up to the end, huh?

You and Laura Dern do look a lot alike! 🙂

  • Beenzzz

Gilead is awesome. I love his workouts and his accent!:) I sometimes do his workouts or Sharon Mann’s. Is she hyper or what? 🙂 I’m glad you liked the dish. I’m making two new Indian items tonight and I will post them. I hope it turns out yummy!

YES! That’s it! Totally Laura Dern! I hadn’t thought of it until you said that and now I’m going to have a hard time not thinking Jurassic Park when I see your picture 🙂

At least she’s not a bad person to look like. With my luck someone would tell me I look like Danny DeVito.

Bummer you didn’t dig Proof as much as I did. Of course the final scene kinda let out any of the steam it had built out. Stupid sucky final scene.

Hurry for rainy days! Which means some snow, which means less chance of drought. YAY!

Oh, Day 6 huh? I pulled out my Rodney Yee, and we’ve been hanging. Haven’t moved or anything yet.. just hanging out on the entertainment center.
