Friday Randomness

Is Facebook destined to be the death of blogging? So easy to go there and post a quick snippet, without the commitment and time that it takes to write a blog post.  So easy to go there and read your friend’s updates, without the commitment of clicking around or using a reader.  I’ll admit, I like it a lot more than I thought I would.  That I have reconnected there with people I didn’t expect to ever see or hear from again is a bonus indeed.

Is it wrong to come home from yoga class and be thrilled to find KFC for dinner?  (If you are a facebook friend, you probably know this already).  Speaking of yoga, my class is MUCH too crowded these days.  I’m thinking of switching to a different night, which is also good because it will be later in the evening, which will be helpful when Ted starts work in a few weeks.  Also, it’s a slightly more advanced class, which would be helpful.

I’m loving my new bike.  Ted inherited a new bike recently, one with panniers on the back, so he can carry groceries.  It’s not as light and fast as his road bike, which is good for me, because when he rides it, we can ride together, rather than me trying to keep up with him.  We’ve been going to the grocery store together and getting things for dinner.  Nice.

I’m going to miss having Ted around when he starts work again.  I guess that’s a good sign for a marriage, when you’re together pretty much all day, and you still enjoy it?  I remember that at Penn, too.  Though I worked and he was taking classes, we enjoyed riding in and home together, and sometimes having lunch.  Nice.

I’m enjoying my book…The Member of the Wedding.  It’s by Carson McCullers.  The only other work of hers I’ve read was The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, which was pretty damned amazing.

Had lunch this week with Neva.  She was my best friend in 6th grade, and we reconnected back in 2001 via Classmates.com.  I love her, and I love getting together for dinner, drinks, and some shopping.  When it comes to shopping, she’s a pro.  I can’t compete, though I did buy a bike this week, so I shouldn’t complain.  😉

I found out via Facebook that today is ‘National Wear Red Day‘, in which you wear red in support of women’s heart health.  After witnessing my mom’s health last year, I’m all for taking the best care of my heart and lungs that I can.  Eat right, exercise, don’t smoke, all of those things.  Doesn’t hurt that I was already wearing a red sweater when I read it, either.

It’s been a good week.  Hope yours was too, and that the weekend is even better.  And that we get more rain.  Any locals, do your rain dance, OK?

I agree about Facebook, although I don’t check everyone’s statuses all that often.

Mmmmm KFC. I get intense KFC cravings every few months. Eric doesn’t understand them and says “Ewwwww”, but then happily eats it.

Last year when I was home for 3.5 weeks I loved being around Eric all the time and was sad when I had to go back to work. Now he drives me to and from BART and I love coming down the escalator to see him waiting for me.

Hope you have a great weekend!! We should get together sometime soon!

I am blogging less because of Facebook. And I’m reading less blog posts. I’m OK with it, the balance is way more fun.

That picture of you on your bike looks nothing like what I had pictured in my head. *snort*

The closest I came to dancing was walking the pups in the drizzle/rain between 6:15 and 6:50 this AM. With that and the commute, I was sopping wet by the time I got in.

Yes, the rain is good, and does wash the yard before it drains out to the bay, but I kept wishing we could send it all up to the hills, locked up as nice white snow and kept safe for our summertime needs.

Don’t mean to be a grump — yes, I do like the rain, including the sound of it hitting the roof and windows at night. 😉

Ben, I’m with you. I mean, I love the rain, but I’d give it up and send it all to the mountains if it would help us this summer!

You know what disappoints me? I can’t really hear the rain at night. It’s needs to rain harder or something. Or I need to turn off the fan. haha

    I never crave KFC. Ever.

I love FB and glad I have those connections, because I’m not an every day blogger.

KFC works for me! I have fond memories of one of my pothead high school friends that worked at the local KFC back in the 70’s.
I would always pick him up after work and he would bring a bucket of chicken out with him!!! Oh….nothing like the THC induced munchies with KFC!

I recently started Facebook too Julie. I have conflicting feelings about it as I find I’m spending less time blogging. I guess it is another sign of our instant gratification kind of society. It is fun though.

    Peace!
