  • Angry Black Bitch wins the Perfect Post Award

I haven’t awarded a ‘perfect post’ in a long time…to be honest, I forget about it every month, until I get an email from Petroville, who dutifully sends the code for the badge, and reminds me of the award. But by then, I’ve forgotten what wonderful stuff is out there, and so no awards go out. But in a perfect example of synchronicity, I received the email, and then went and checked out an amazing post written by Shark Fu, aka, Angry Black Bitch. What makes this post award worthy? I love the way she dives right and and tells it like it is, reminding us what being a patriotic…

  • Beware the Ides of March!

20 Especially if you are 5, and you feel like getting in a fight with me.  Because apparently, I can take out 20 of the kindergarten set. I found this over at Greeblemonkey. I know, I’m a bad person, but if they’re attacking me, I’m not going to hold back, and they’re going down. Consider yourself warned. You know, if you’re 5.

  • Fast Friday Five

Finally talked to a few people yesterday about my mom. Seems that if you want people to call you back, they’re more likely to do so if you give them your phone number. I thought it was in the file….she’s feeling much better, got up and around a bit, and started eating, which is good, because she’s been pretty queasy, thus not eating until today. It’s a slow recovery, but at least it’s going in the right direction. Speaking of mom, the move fund has raised just over $1,000 already, and that’s just paypal folks. We can’t say how thankful we are. Thank you. LaLuna’s birthday was yesterday. Happy Birthday,…

  • Blog for Choice Day

Today is the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and the 3rd annual ‘Blog for Choice Day’. I participated last year, when the writing prompt was, “Why you’re pro choice“, as well as in 2006, when I declared that I think that the rights of the pregnant woman supersede those of the unborn child, and that the answer to the abortion question shouldn’t be to outlaw it, but rather, to improve medical care, education, and family planning access so that fewer and fewer women find themselves having to make this difficult decision. The writing prompt this year is ‘why it’s important to vote pro-choice’. In an election year, especially an…

  • Splotchy’s Story Virus

My mom tagged me for an interesting meme…a story virus, I guess it’s called. Each person adds to the story, and then tags someone else to go forward with it, and includes the links of those who wrote before. It was started by Splotchy, hence the title. So, here goes: I woke up hungry. I pulled my bedroom curtain to the side and looked out on a hazy morning. I dragged myself into the kitchen, in search of something to eat. I reached for a jar of applesauce sitting next to the sink, and found it very cold to the touch. I opened the jar and realized it was frozen.…

  • I suspect they think you have to be Redneck* to be truly ‘American’. Me no likey that…

You Are 51% American Most times you are proud to be an American. Though sometimes the good ole US of A makes you cringe Still, you know there’s no place better suited to be your home. You love your freedom and no one’s going to take it away from you! How American Are You? I mean, really, isn’t it our job as Americans to disagree sometimes with the decisions made by our leaders, to continually want our country to live up to its ideals, to try to make it the best country on earth? I know this is a silly blogthing, but I suspect I lost American points for not…

  • DoSoEvAyMo

Hopped on over to a new blog today (not a new blog, but you know, new to me, found her through the whole NaBloPoMo thing), and loved what she had to say about creativity and letting loose in her writing.   Went from there over to another blog, The Letter W (justsohappens this was Maya’s favorite letter way back when she was learning them), and saw an idea I’m going to incorporate.  Do Something Every Day Month, aka, DoSoEvAyMo.  So…I’ll post my regular posts, and at the bottom, I’ll add what it is that I’m hoping to do that day.  By the way, this is pretty much NOT her point…her point, I…

  • The Name Meme

NaBloPoMo is the perfect time to pull out the memes…you need something to write about, and they’re fun, right?  Saw this one first at Ms. Mamma’s place back in Oct. 1. YOUR ROCK STAR NAME: (first pet & first car) – Samantha Bug (with a name like that, I think I’m destined to be a rock star on Disney Channel.  Not enough street cred anwhere else.) 2. YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (fave ice cream flavor, favorite cookie) – Cherries Jubilee Mexican Wedding (Yah, you scared of me now? ) 3. YOUR “FLY Guy/Girl” NAME: (first initial of first name, first three letters of your last name) – J ASR 4. YOUR DETECTIVE NAME:…

  • Player?

The Only Thing You Play is “Cool” It’s not that you don’t have the skills to juggle a few men… Nope, you just lack the desire. You prefer dating to be a simple one on one process. No games, no other people, no drama – just you and the guy you’re getting to know. When It Comes To Men, Are You a Player?
