Busy Busy Busy…

These last few weeks have been SO busy….the kind of weeks when you realize how much quieter your life would be without children. We had a parent appreciation potluck, which I was inclined to skip, but they were having a play about mother earth, and Maya was playing a member of the Boston Tea Party, so who can skip that? There was an end of year potluck at girl scouts, where they received their bronze award (boy, the girls worked HARD for that one…very proud). There was a talent show at school, in which Maya performed a dance number with her best friend (I have been forbidden from posting video, sorry folks), and she was also one of the MCs for the evening. Very cool. There was a girl scout field trip to China Town in SF, a field trip for school to Sacramento, a 5th grade promotion ceramony/potluck, the last day of school, which included a school play, in which Maya had the lead…Maria Montessori, no less. There was an end of year party for the 5th graders at someone’s house…it was 103 that day, and the pool was broken. Maya showed her kind heart by trying to rescue a bee that was being teased, and got stung for her efforts. One boy slipped and hit his head, another boy had some weird looking blisters on his feet that got really puffy…I don’t know, when was the last time you went to a party with a body count? Add to all of that our grown up activities, including a 40th birthday for a good friend of mine in San Francisco, which was TOTALLY fun, the big annual pool party for Ted’s company, Father’s Day, the Police concert, a special wedding coming up any day now, complete with rehearsal and dinner, and a breakfast meet up with Gina and Autumns mom, and yeah, our time lately is crazy.  One shouldn’t forget the full time jobs we hold, either.  Those always seems to be begging for attention.  Oh yeah, the house…we got an offer, but it totally sucked, so we countered by saying no to most of their requests and only came down a pittance on the price as a concession. So it’s looking like more open houses in our future. I’m exhausted. And you know what? I wouldn’t give up a moment of it (except maybe the bee and the open houses and the sucky offer…and oh yeah, the 21 year old Volvo wouldn’t start yesterday), because these are the busy times that make up a life. I’ll readily admit that we’re all ready for a little vacation, though….

You HAVE been busy! I agree, I would give up the bee, the open house, sucky offer and the car that doesn’t start (one of my pet peeves – cars that suck and vacuums that don’t – very irritating!)

That’s busy alright, J!!! I find June tends to be the busiest month for school and other extra-curricular activities because everything is coming to a close for the summer. Hope you get better offers on the house…keeping the house spruced up for “open house” can be quite exhausting!

We were kinda like that two weeks ago, lots of school and family stuff going on. This week has been relaxing so far, and then I am going to rub it in that I am going on vacation!

But it’s the first one in probably six years that we’ve taken, so that puts it in perspective.

Yes, you are ready for vacation. It is probably a good thing that I won’t be able to come down this summer. But, I have 68,000 ff miles, so when I can get away I can come first class on ff miles. Nice.

Yeah, CK, I was kinda feeling that way, too. Like if I hadn’t been SO busy, each one of these could have been it’s own post…but there was just too much, so I crammed them all into one. 😉
