After 5 months at the rescue where I volunteer, Julia Gulia was adopted yesterday! YAY!!! She’s such a tidy, sweet girl, I hope she has the best, best life. So many heart eyes.
Travelling with pets is a pain, I’ve never done it. Well, when I was a kid we moved from Alaska to California, and we brought my dog Samantha, but that was my mom’s doing, I don’t remember having to deal with it.
This is the best news!!! It’s a little harder for adult, black cats to get adopted, so I’m VERY glad it worked out for her! She looks like such a sweetie, she reminds me of our Charlotte. The next time I get a cat, I want a black one.
Yes, most people want kittens, and then there’s the whole stupid ‘bad luck’ with black cats, so it takes longer. She had some tummy issues when she first came in, so spent part of her time at the clinic. She’s definitely a lap cat, very mellow and chill. I hope an older person adopted her.
My daughter always says if we could have a cat, she would want a black one. <3
Yay yay yay!! This is the best news, always, when shelter pets find their forever homes. I’m always especially glad when pitties and black cats are adopted. They deserve happy homes, too.
I’m so happy for Julia Gulia! I would love to adopt a cat but Phil doesn’t want to do that while Oscar is alive. She lives at my MIL’s house – she went there when we traveld in Feb of 2020, then stayed an an emotional support animal for my MIL during the pandemic. And then it was apparent she was much happier there than in our house with loud children. She’s turning 11 next month so I don’t think we’ll get a cat anytime soon. We adopted her from a friend’s inlaws who lived on a farm. Next time we will go to a shelter and get a sense for whether the cat likes kids/is chill (Oscar is very feisty…).
Awwwwwwwww. She found her fur-ever home!!! I love black kitties but they don’t get adopted as often since people are (wrongfully) biased. I’m so happy hear she got her family!

That’s so nice! If we have space we would get more cats! But traveling with them is so challenging and expensive.

Hooray! Before our current cats (tabbies) we had two black cats. They lived long lives (17 and 19.5) so I think they were pretty lucky.
J
Very lucky!

I’m glad Oscar is happier with your MIL though sorry that means you can’t have a cat for so long.
If it’s going to be years and years before you have another cat, your kids may be in a different phase as well, so a calm cat might be OK.

She looks like my Mari!
J
She does!

Oh, that pleases me. There are so many for adoption here, but I think we need to be done with cats, especially since they might outlive us.
J
A sad but honest consideration, to be sure.

So PRETTY. My daughter wants to adopt an older cat, and she would love a black one.

I think adult black cats have trouble getting adopted, so this is great to hear. Julia is 2 or 3, so young but mature and calm.

That is wonderful news!
J
Thank you, I agree!

Love her name and so happy she’s found herself a home. Happy day indeed. Thanks for sharing.
J
She’s a darling, I hope her people Jove her as much as the voluteers have.

Yay! I am so happy for Julia Gulia! That is great news! Is there a new kitty or will you have a lull?
J
So far no new kitty, but I’m guessing next week.
