Happy Birthday Puppy Boy!
Mulder is 4 years old today! Happy Birthday Puppy Boy! We took him for a nice long walk, and I gave him a piece of bacon this morning. Ted just brushed his teeth and he had a carrot (his reward for teeth brushing or fur brushing), and later I am going to bake him some homemade peanut butter dog cookies. In case you are ever so inclined, here is the recipe. I once made him some from an Ina Garten recipe, but he likes these just as much, and they are fewer ingredients and easier to make, so I’ll go with these. Someone from the dog rescue where we got him posted the recipe on Facebook.
Mulder’s favorite Peanut Butter Dog Cookies
Ingredients
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/4 cups peanut butter (no xylitol, very dangerous for dogs!)
- 1 Tbsp molasses
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a blender (or food processor, which works better for me), blend peanut butter, milk, and molasses until smooth. Add to flour mixture. Knead until it forms a stiff dough. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes (I bought a very cute dog bone shaped cookie cutter at Bed Bath and Beyond for something like $2). Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until lightly browned. Turn off the oven and leave the cookies in the oven until cool. Store in airtight container.

What a great doggo! And a lucky one, too. Happy Birthday Muldter. ?

Thanks Ally, he IS a great doggie. The little girls next door made him birthday cards and enjoyed playing with him and his toys. He is trying to be patient as his cookies slowly dry out in the oven. He wants them now, but he can’t have them until they are cold.

He’s such a beautiful dog. It’s easy to see how loved and well taken care of he is. Thanks for the treat recipe. I will perhaps make some for Zydrunas’ Christmas gift.

Nance, if he likes peanut butter, he will love these! I made them for Mulder’s Christmas gift as well.
