Calling Engineering Types…
Has anyone ever heard of a microwave oven leaking water? I have never heard of this, but ours definately is. It’s not even plugged in, hasn’t been used in a day or two, but it put out a HUGE puddle. This has happened several times, and ruined several of my cookbooks. We’re going to trash the thing and get a new one, since it’s almost surely cheaper to buy a new one than to get this one looked at, and we’ve had it for maybe 10 years, but I think this is VERY weird. Today, I heated up some soup on the stove at about 11:30. The counter was dry, to the best of my knowledge.  At 1:00, there was a huge puddle, which took two full sized bath towels to clean up. Any ideas? Isn’t that freaky? Think it was caused by Chernobyl? Are we all going to die?

Okay, I blew up my microwave – seriously, put a pizza or something in there and it caught freakin fire so I am probably not the best person to ask but have you googled it? Sometimes when I am totally clueless, i just google and see if someone SOMEWHERE has encountered the problem!

WTF? I’ve never heard of that either. How strange. Do you have loose pipes anywhere near the microwave?? I think you better call in an exorcist, that thing sounds possessed!

No pipes anywhere near the microwave, no evidence of it coming from anywhere BUT the microwave, we tried moving the microwave, and left it for awhile…and there was a little bit more water when we moved it. Weird.
Wen, I tried googling it, but all I got was page after page talking about microwaves leaking radiation or whatever, never water. SO WEIRD.

Freaky deaky. I’m afraid this stumps me.

May I suggest — THROW OUT THE MICROWAVE!!!! I don’t know, I’m pretty paranoid. I’ll be imagining the water is radio-active and toxic… sorry… I guess I should have kept that to myself.
Get a new one! Or start cooking with the stove more often?! That leaky microwave sounds bad to me.

Wasn’t it you that said all things can be traced back to Chernobyl? 🙂
I guess I would ask–are you SURE it’s water? 🙂

Heaven to Betsy, Child, throw it away. Heaven only knows what it could be, but it doesn’t sound good.

I says to D2 ” J’s microwave in incontinent” and he says “do like the woman astronaut, put a diaper on it” hahahaha. That boy is naughty!

j, i think it’s time to say goodbye. i know it’s hard, but you’ll grow to love a microwave that is potty trained. all i could think of is maybe condensation?!

Wow! I do believe it’s time for a replacement 🙂 Ours is getting tempermental and I know we should replace ours soon, but I just love ours. It’s tough when you’re used to something and don’t want to get something new.
If your microwave is leaking something fierce, then I think for safety’s sake, maybe consider a new one? 🙂 I dunno. If it’s only a little bit of leakage, then perhaps the problem can be rectified. If it’s a lot of water…I just don’t like the sounds of it, because…microwaves aren’t supposed to leak 🙂

That’s very weird and scary. I think dumping it and getting a new one is a good idea.

Its probably some sort of radioactive waste, be very careful and wear gloves when you handle it. And no, I have never heard of a microwave leaking water. Weird.

THAT does not sound safe.
Did you check to see if those bath towels were glowing?
