5 Things You May Not Know About Me

One of the blogs I love to read, and I almost passed out once when she commmented on my blog, because, wow, you know, I got a comment from RSM, is Rockstar Mommy. I’m not sure we have a lot in common, other than that we’re both moms, and we’re both blonde (wink wink), and we’re both Capricorns, but I love her writing style (I’m a sucker for proper grammar, and a sense of humor to boot!  And she’s only 25! Or 26! She just had a birthday, but I don’t remember the age…she’s young, anyway), and she has very cute kids and very great taste in music. Heck, I even invited her over to play Ted’s drums, which Ted doesn’t know (well…NOW he does) because she covets a set, and besides, she lives in NJ and won’t take me up on it. Yesterday, reading her post, I found out that it’s De-Lurking week. I’m not sure who decides these things, but RSM found out via Paper Napkin.  If you’re new to the concept of De-Lurking week, it is just this.  Please, I beg of you, leave a comment.  If you usually read my posts, and then go on about your merry way, let me know you were here…leave a comment, so I can say, “Wow…10 people like me! They really like me!”  I can’t find out about you via SiteMeter or anything, because I never bothered to set that up at this blog…I left it behind at my old blog.  So I’m never sure how many folks are checking in on me, or not.

OK, done with that.  What better way to participate in a blogging week than to do a meme, that most popular of bloggy activities?  I was tagged the other day by Cherry for this one.   Being tagged by Cherry makes this kind of hard, because I know her in person, and I think she knows me pretty well.  Also, I’ve done so many of these meme thingies, including the 100 things about me, I’m not sure that there’s a whole lot of mystery left for us, bloggy world.  I’ll try, though.  Here goes:

1.  I finished High School in 3 years.  Wait, that was number 92 on the 100 things meme. Dang.

1. I have pretty nice handwriting.  I practiced a LOT in Jr. High, and then more in High School. I could never read what my mom or my brother wrote, so it was kind of a pride thing for me.

2. I once knocked a bully down by hitting him over the head with a snow shovel.  (He was beating up my brother, so he deserved it!)

3. While living in Stockton, CA, I had my purse snatched off of my person, my car broken into and my stereo ripped out, our garage broken into and my brother’s bike stolen from the garage, an attempted home robbery, my work (Mr. Steak) robbed at gun point, where they put us all in the storage room and made the manager lie on the ground with a gun to his head, and I was called a stuck up bitch for not giving a guy on the street my phone number.  Is it any wonder that I felt the need to get out of that dump, and have never looked back?

4. I never lose a fight in my dreams.  I’ve swung evildoers around by their ankles, smashing their heads against the wall.  Sometimes I escape from them by flying, but that’s usually very frustrating, because it’s just a variation of the dream where you’re trying to run, or to scream, and it’s like you’re underwater and everything is in slow motion.  I can’t fly very high or very fast, and they’re always right behind me, and I’m kinda wondering if they can fly, too…what usually gets me out of that one is that I think, “Oh, I can’t fly in real life, this must be a dream”, so I wake up.

5. When Samantha had puppies, we named two of them Sonny and Cher.  They couldn’t sing, though.

I kind of feel like I should have reached farther into my secret self for this one, but really, I don’t keep any secrets for you people, I mine them all for blog ideas.  So this is it.  Sorry. 😉

I am here. Everyday. Lurking and lurking. And then lurking some more. It’s a nasty little habit. One that I am trying so hard to improve.
I do like your blog, J. I really do 😉
I think I need to promote this delurking thing on my blog. As I believe I have some, but they never comment. Drives me up a wall. Sometimes that Statcounter is a bad thing…

I’m checkin’ you out! Actually I love you’re writting. I always check to see how you comment on Ms. Mamma’s blog because you really have a way with words. (Sorry to sound so cliche, I really mean it.)Happy Delurking!

I can’t imagine how frightening being held at gunpoint must have been.

And, if you don’t watch it already, “Heroes” sounds like the show for you!

  • Black Belt Mama

No wonder you moved! That’s awful. Sorry I’ve been more of a lurker than a commenter lately. Just trying to catch up with everything and everyone after a stressful end to 2006.

You and Stockton don’t mix. Good for a visit with family, but you shouldn’t live there ever again.

You found a few things I didn’t know! I knew about the Mr. Steak thing, but not all the others bad stockton events. And I don’t think I knew about Sonny and Cher either.

Did I tell you I tried the Pistachio fish recipe? It turned out really well. Also, I really enjoyed the book My Sister’s Keeper. See, you are enriching my life and you don’t even really know me.

  • Maya's Granny

Well, you know that I read you every day. It’s the rules: thou must gets to read thy daughter’s blog.

I have always been proud of you hitting that bully with the snow shovel.

I love these memes, I love finding out new things about my blogger friends. Whoa, Stockton sounds like a scary place! What a cute idea to call a pair of puppies, Sonny and Cher! 🙂

  • Lalunas

I like it very much. I thought Sony and Cher was so cute. The Meme stuff is hard for me. Get it meme…me.
I am still thinking about what to write. For you and PY it seems like it is easy, a peice of cake. (just had to throw in the cake thing, haven’t had any since last year)
    hehehehe.

Amy, Here’s the post with the RSM comment. 🙂 http://jellyjules.com/?p=385
I felt famous. Then, and once in awhile Mom101 comments, and I’m all atwitter.

If I ever got AngryBlackBitch or Bitch PhD to comment, I would probably faint. That sounds like I don’t appreciate my usual commenters, but it’s not true. I love you all. 🙂

  • Py Korry

It’s a good thing I know about all these ’cause it would be weird if after being with you for almost 20 years there was some big thing you never told me. Whew!

  • Wendy

Busted, indeed! J, your new banner is GORGEOUS! OMG I love it – I read you every day in Bloglines so I have missed it! (That’s what I get for reading through Bloglines!!) To one of my absolute favorites in the entire blogosphere, I love learning more about you and my only regret is that we don’t live closer so we could have a glass of wine and talk about life!

Just dropping by to say Hi!

I know what you mean by the lurkers. I mean, some days I no one reading my blog whatsoever cause, like, they actually have a LIFE outside of the internet space (GASP)… Then there are times when I actually have 30 or 40 reads from random anonymouses. Then again, I should never neglect my ever-so-many admirers from my fan club finding out the newest news on little old me.

(I’m just writing out boring mundane stuff so I think I’ll be doing more memes very shortly.)
