Bunny
What the fuck did I just read?
If you’re asking, ‘should I read this?’ I would say, if you like clever writing that seems like it could be a YA novel, but is most definitely NOT, AND you are into unreliable narrators AND the thought of the mean girls of Heathers as a coven or a cult, then yes, yes you should read this book! Otherwise, probably not.
What’s it about? Well, our main character, Samantha, is a loner working on her MFA in a creative writing program at Warren University. Her mother is dead, her father absent (avoiding the law, I think). She has one friend, Ava, who is not a student at college. I think she dropped out of the art program, she is very critical of the college and the program. When Ava leaves for a few days, Samantha is taken in by a wealthy clique of 4 women in her program, as they are the only 5 students in their workshop. The clique is bizarre. They speak in ridiculously high voices, call each other ‘Bunny’, eat only tiny food at a tiny food cafe, and are involved in the occult. Specifically, they are changing rabbits into men, with varying levels of success.
Was it good? Eh, I was definitely invested in finding out what the hell was going on. Did I? I mean, I have my theories, but I could definitely be wrong. Recommended? If you’re into gothic horror and being confused, yes. I enjoyed it but likely won’t bother with the sequel, We Love You Bunny.

Lisa’s Yarns
Wow, what a weird book! It is definitely in the ‘not for Lisa’ category. I don’t do well with books that are experimental in nature, which is what this sounds like!
J
VERY experimental. Well done, but very weird.
Coco
You convinced me not to read it. Heheh.
J
LOL, I’m not sorry I read it, but it was an interesting experience for sure.

You actually had me until “turning rabbits into men.” That was what lost me! Everything else I thought…well…that could be good…
J
That was pretty weird Nicole. PRETTY WEIRD.

Oh my goodness. This book lands with a heavy thud in the Nope pile for me, but did I get a good chuckle out of your review? Yes, yes I did.
J
LOL, heavy thud in the Nope pile. I like that.

I think this one lands in the not for me pile…but also it’s so weird sounding I’m a little intrigued?
J
It was pretty good, but weird weird weird.

It sounds bizarre. In Book Club we read “The Rabbit Hutch” which was disturbing and in most of our opinions, awful. I’m now distrustful of any books about rabbits. (or bunnies)
J
I haven’t heard of that one…
