Zero surgeries? What a lucky life you’ve lived.

What a throwback to simplier blogging days. I used to adore lists like these because it was, and still can be, a quick way to get a glimpse into other people’s lives. I’m smiling, thanks for sharing it here.

  • Karen Meg

This is a fun one, will have to do it myself. I love “old fashioned” paired with meme, then I realized memes have been around for at least 20 years now (and I ‘ve been blogging since forever LOL). It’s fun to see that we have even more things in common (eg. Hellmans and Smooth peanut butter!)

  • Kat

I agree, these lists are fun. Lucky to also have had no surgeries, but I have broken two bones–the fifth metatarsal on each foot, 21 years apart! And the left just this past February (along with a grade 3 ankle sprain, which incidentally occurred while playing my favorite sport, tennis, ha). Pretty well-healed now (“only” an avulsion fracture) but there will be a visible bump and some soreness on the left for a long while if it follows the pattern of the right, which actually took a year to even fully heal (Jones fracture). I’ve also hit a deer, on my way home from work about 15 yrs ago, on a suburban street no less (awful but thankful I wasn’t injured). Definitely seafood as I am from MD!

    • J

I almost answered seafood, but I do love a good steak, so I decided I couldn’t choose.

I’m lucky in that I haven’t broken a bone either. I chipped my shoulder years ago, and it still hurts.

  • Lisa's Yarns

I’m also marveling over the fact that you haven’t had any surgeries! Wow! I have had so many (stops to count… 7! And I might be forgetting something). I will have to play along on my blog. I miss the old meme days!

  • Margaret

No surgeries, wow! There aren’t many of us with 0 tattoos. I see no reason to put myself through unnecessary pain. We are similar in many ways; I love eggs for breakfast too.

  • AC

What is Best Foods of Miracle Whip? Does it mean mayo or miracle whip? If so, put me down for mayo.

I may do tis sometime, but not too soon because I have a number of posts in the queue. Sometimes it goes like that. At other times, I have trouble coming up with posts.

    • J

Yes, Best Foods is the same as Hellman’s. Do you have Hellman’s mayonnaise in Canada? A lot of people are team one or the other (Miracle Whip or Best Foods) and feelings are STRONG. East of the Rockys it’s Hellmans, and out west it’s Best Foods. Seems like there are other products that have different names depending on what part of the country they are from, but I can’t think of them right now.

  • Birchie

This is the best meme I’ve seen so far on our Coldplay friends. We have the same number of tattoos and deer strikes, and I’ll join you for smooth peanut butter and cilantro anytime. I’ll just need a bottle of hot sauce to spice up my salsa.

  • nance

I never listen to Coldplay, but I hear all about them from my sister, who is a cult member/fan. I am always courteous and pleasant while I listen to everything she says, even after attending a concert. I am a saint.

Steak or Seafood: Seafood, no question
Italian or Chinese: Takeout, Chinese. Dine-In, Italian
Favorite soda: I don’t drink it, but when I did, Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper

    Ever hit a deer: No
    Favorite season: Spring
    Broken bones: 0
Beach or mountains: Hate the beach. Anything is better.
Dogs or cats: Dogs if they’re someone else’s; Cats if they’re mine.
    Early morning person: Yes
    Surgeries: 3
Favorite color: Red, but starting to lean more toward Green
Have you ever flown in a plane? Yes
    Mild or hot salsa: Medium

    Favorite holiday: Thanksgiving
Smooth or crunchy peanut butter: Smooth
Large or small curd cottage cheese: None
Best Foods or Miracle Whip: Miracle Whip for sandwiches; Hellman’s for tuna salad
Country or Rock: Rock; All Country sets my teeth on edge. ALL of it.
Favorite Sport: Do dog shows count? No? Then I guess maybe curling during the Olympics because it’s just so bizarre.
Like to dance: Not as much as I once did.
Have you been on a cruise: Yes
    Do you like cilantro: Yes
Fear of heights: Not really. But I sort of think that would be challenged by that transparent platform at the Grand Canyon.

    • J

DOG SHOWS FOR THE WIN! Which reminds me, I should say Dressage, because I LOVE watching that in the Olympics.

Is your sister enjoying the Coldplay kurfuffle?

    • Ernie

      Love this meme. Hilarious.

I am twinning you on many of your choices. Rock music. No tatoos. Color green (but sometimes blue). I have never been on a cruise and I happen to know if we had filled this out a few months ago we would have answered the same. Surgeries. Dogs. Broken bones (I chipped a bone once in my thumb). I do prefer steak. I like mild salsa. I guess I’m a morning person, but I feel like that is not my factory setting g- just the result of circumstance.

      • J

Blue is my other favorite color too! I love the colors of nature, of leaves and grass and sky and water, they are all so calming.

  • Suzanne

    Yassssssss old school memes FTW!

I am over here stuck on the question: what’s your favorite soda? Mountain Dew, except I drink maybe one Mountain Dew a year, so does that really count? Coke Zero is good. Diet Coke is good. Diet Dr. Pepper is good. Ginger ale is good, but I usually only drink it on an airplane. Hmmm. Okay, I am going to answer this way: in high school, a local fast food place used to have a summer special where their biggest size was $1. And they had a variety of flavored syrups. So my best friend and I would go there ALL the time and get Mountain Dews with cherry syrup. Ginormous ones. As an adult the idea of all that sugar makes me gag a little, but they were so delicious!

    • J

I very rarely drink a Mexican coke, I generally drink coke zero. But my FAVORITE is a Mexican coke. 🙂

  • Allison McCaskill

Nicole and I and our friend Hannah used to do Meme Mondays, and why did we stop, this is DELIGHTFUL.

I am finding the whole Coldplay concert moment is provoking very strange emotions in me, and I haven’t been sharing any of the memes even though some of them are objectively hilarious. I feel dreadful for the man’s poor wife and children, and sort of starkly terrified at the way this blew up to gargantuan proportions.

  • Nicole MacPherson

Great answers, and I love that you have no opinion on Miracle Whip vs. Best Foods. Do you not use mayo at all?

  • Elisabeth

Mild or hot salsa: Neither. I dislike all forms of salsa.
Waffles or pancakes: Waffles, though I wouldn’t turn down a big stack of pancakes. (I can’t believe Nicole doesn’t like waffles or pancakes. Why Nicole??? What did waffles ever do to you??? They are just fluffy, carbohydrate goodness that wants to fill your belly with sugary, sweet love.)

    Do you like cilantro: Yes!
Fear of heights: I have a healthy respect for the danger associated with heights, but it’s not a crippling fear by any means.

    • J

I LOVE FALL…I love the cool crisp mornings, and the warm afternoons, and the colors on the trees…but it’s so dry and arid here, and the fire risk is HIGH. Spring still has the crisp mornings and warm afternoons, but it rains some and everything is green. And the flowers are in bloom.

I liked your answer to heights. I’m not phobic, but yeah, I have a healthy respect for it, which may prevent me from riding a Ferris Wheel (I mean, what the hell is that ride?)

LOL on your dog/cat question, because I know you are not a dog fan, so that lets me know how you feel about cats!

  • Tamara

Sophie’s choice! hahaha! I just have a moment, so won’t weigh in on most of these, but Best Foods, green, and NO cilantro for me please.

    Dogs or cats: Dogs

Yes, we have mayo, I didn ‘t realise that’s what they were. I don’t think people go for particular brands necessarily. I usually just try to pick a whole egg mayannaise which are much more like a homemade one, than praise or kraft which a major cheap brands here.

        • J

I think that Hellman’s/Best Foods (two names for the same product, depending on where you live in the US) is whole egg, likely why it is considered the best store bought here.

Oh rememebr the days when you sent those through via email? I recently found some of them in my inbox.
    I’ll answer three question:
    Broken bones: 1 1/2
