Listen for the Lie
Listen for the Lie ~ Amy Tintera
Lucy is found wandering the streets with her best friend Savannah’s blood on her dress. Savannah has been murdered. Lucy is suspected of the murder, but not charged, and she has no memory of that night. Even her ex-husband and parents suspect she is guilty, but there was not enough evidence to charge her.
Five years later, Ben, a true crime podcaster, features the murder on his show (Listen for the Lie), and he comes to her town to investigate.
This was a fun murder mystery, and the question of did she or didn’t she was not at all obvious until the end. Lucy was likable, and I didn’t want to think she had done it, but when she heard voices encouraging her to kill those around her, I began to suspect she might be guilty. I listened to the audiobook, and enjoyed being able to listen to the podcast episodes rather than read them. Recommended.
What’s with all the book reviews? I’m participating in NaBloPoMo this month, writing a post a day. I decided that I would write about the books that I have read this year. For more NaBloPoMo participants, check out San’s list.

It’s the strangest thing… It began to feel like an anxiety attack as the red of this book cover began to load HAHAHA. Going to give this a miss!
Thanks for the book reviews, Jules–I’ve gotten so many for my list!
J
LOL, that’s funny. There is PLENTY of anxiety out there, don’t bring more into your life. Skip the book. (Would it help if the cover were blue?)

This sounds good. I don’t do murder mysteries often, and I’m not sure why. I see how the podcast portions would be great to listen to. I wish I remembered the murder mystery we read for book club a few years ago set in an elderly living community. Wait, I googled it. It was called The Thursday Murder Club. I really enjoyed that book. Lots of twists and interesting characters. Have you read it?
J
No, I haven’t heard of that one. It’s good? Maybe I’ll give it a try. I’m not big into murder mysteries either, but I enjoyed this one.

I thought this was maybe the best audiobook I’ve ever read (listened to?). It honestly did feel like a podcast!

I do murder mysteries but not many thrillers. For whatever reason, I get stressed by the latter.
J
I’m trying to think if this one is stressful. Maybe a bit, yeah.

I love a good cosy murder-mystery and love a good spy thriller, so might go check this one out. Adding it to my library list.
