Thank-You

Whereas the 11th of November 1918, marked the cessation of the most destructive, sanguinary, and far reaching war in human annals and the resumption by the people of the United States of peaceful relations with other nations, which we hope may never again be severed, and

Whereas it is fitting that the recurring anniversary of this date should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations; and

Whereas the legislatures of twenty-seven of our States have already declared November 11 to be a legal holiday: Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), that the President of the United States is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on November 11 and inviting the people of the United States to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies of friendly relations with all other peoples.

Thank-you to all who have served our country, in so many terrible wars throughout our history. Together, let us take up the cause of world peace.

  1. I have to work, so I’m stuck home, but Ted and Maya are thinking of going to the Legion of Honor in San Francisco to see the Veterans Day celebration there.  Ted has a cold, so maybe they’ll end up staying home.  We’ll see.
  2. Besides work, it’s exercise in the morning, and read my book later.  This Do Something Every Day isn’t as exciting as I thought it might be. 😉

Thank you Veterans. Applebee’s is celebrating by offering a free meal to all veterans today, restrictions apply. Maybe there are other restaurants out there doing so as well. Special shout out to my Papa for keeping us safe, and thanks to God he didn’t have to go over seas in WW11.

“and the resumption by the people of the United States of peaceful relations with other nations, which we hope may never again be severed”

    I really liked that line.

Many thanks to all of our veterans, including Ted’s Dad and AM’s Papa. I’d also like to thank my dear friends from high school, A.B. and C.B., who are sisters currently serving in the Middle East. Their father, C.B. also served in Vietnam.

well put, take up the cause of world peace.

Things aren’t as exciting around here today, either, except maybe the weather. (we’re expecting 65mph gusts)
