1984
I saw this on Gina’s blog. The idea is to take top 100 songs from the year you graduated from High School, bold the ones you loved, strikeout the ones you hated, and leave the others plain. I’m going to try to be honest here, and tell the truth about how I felt then, no matter how embarrassing that may be now. I mean, come on..Say Say Say? I bought the single. Sigh.

Awww yeeaaah, Ratt! I loved that song!
Most of the songs you don’t remember seem to be the really slow ones.
My two big disagreements to your bolds are 99 Luft Balloons (hated it!) and Let’s Hear it for the Boy.
And man, that must have been the year when the Pointer Sisters were everywhere, I never did really like them either.

Gina, Let’s Hear it for the Boy was from Footloose, which I loved, so I kinda had to love it. 😉 Not so much anymore, but I was going for full disclosure on this one. Thanks for a perfect Sunday morning meme.

Hey, “Say, say, say,” was popular back then! I think everyone loved that song. I was also a big Yes fan. Man these songs take me back!

You don’t remember “Yah Mo B There?” That one reminds me of when I got my first job in radio. I don’t really like the song, but it does take me back. 🙂

Say Say Say is the best song on this whole list because Michael Jackson sang it. It’s also an awesome video!

Hey, don’t feel bad about Paul and Michael! Even knowing who Laurie Anderson is, makes up for that, hands down.

What or who was Ya MO??? damn I still liked that song.

Very cool J! You reminded me that I saw the Thompson Twins in concert AND bought a tshirt. I may have to do this one too. Cool, Gina!

I loved Say Say Say. How did you come up with this list? I couldn’t possibly remember what was on the charts–my memory’s not so good you know.

Your high school musical memories are my college and somewhat post-college memories. I think we agree on most things, though I do favor some of the R&B stuff that you crossed off. I can’t believe you don’t remember “Ya Mo Be There”. Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers? Good song.

I like and agree with all your choices. Great Stuff…

Oh this was a walk down memory lane – i have pretty much the same taste in 80s music as you – I might do this – it is too fun not to!

I have so much to say but it can be summed up in one sentence: We would have SO been best friends in high school.
And I feel the need to add some tunes to my iPod.
