Headache Cure?

When we went to Portland this summer, my stepmom, Julie, gave me a copy of this book, Cool Yoga Tricks, by Miriam Austin.  When the book was written, they decided they wanted to take the photos in Portland, and since Julie has an awesome Iyengar studio there, the author contacted her, and Julie and my sister, Maya, posed for a lot of the pictures in the book.  Cool, huh? Anyway, I was thumbing through recently, looking for pictures of Maya and Julie (funny to have Maya and Julie that aren’t me and my daughter, Maya), and I saw this page, on curing headaches.  Supposedly, it helps with all kinds of headaches, including sinus headaches and migraines.  I haven’t tried it, since I have been fortunate enough to not have suffered from any since finding this tip, and I don’t have an ace bandage lying around the house.   But I read on blogs about folks who suffer from migraines, and who have horrid sinus headaches, and I wonder if this really works? Seems like you would want to remove your contacts first.  I’m not sure how this would be different from lying down and having one of those eye pressure sinus relaxation things on your eyes, but who knows?

Has anyone tried this?  If so, does it work?  Seems like it might help. 🙂

My mom used to wrap her head like this when she was pregnant with us and had a headache. She couldn’t take any medication, so she found that this worked. I haven’t tried this though. Maybe I should. I have TMJ and that can give you one hell of a headache.

Do you use a mouthguard, Beenzzz? I have to sleep with one because I grind my teeth, and yeah, it can give mighty headaches anyway. Blech.

    Hey J,
Yeh, I wear a mouthguard. I’ve managed to shred my teeth up pretty good and the mouth guard is looking pretty worn down. I think it’s time for a new one. 🙂

I love reading about more natural “cures” like this. Thanks for passing it on. And yes, it is funny to hear you talking about a Julie and a Maya that aren’t you and your daughter. You have such a unique family story, and you seem to have embraced it all so naturally!
