Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends and family!  I say family, because Canada clarified their regulations recently, so that all you have to do to prove your citizenship is to show your birth certificate, that you were born in Canada.  Which Ted was.  Yay Canada!  So tonight, for dinner, I’m thinking Stuffed Turkey Rolls, yams, cranberry sauce, and salad.  Fun, huh?

Maya has the day off of school today, for Columbus Day.  I have the day off of work for the same reason.  Poor Ted, the Canadian in the crowd, has to work.  Not fair, really.  It’s a good thing that Maya has the day off, though, because she woke up with a fever yesterday.  Which made me think…”Is it swine flu?  If it’s swine flu, do I need to get her a swine flu shot in a few weeks?  How will I know if it’s swine flu vs. not swine flu?”  OK, settle down, Mom.  I’m settling down.  Hopefully, she’ll wake up today feeling much, much better.  We had the idea of going to San Francisco to celebrate a day off.   Or else going to see my Grandma.  But with Maya being sick, I’m thinking we’ll stay home, and if she’s up to it, maybe go buy a sweater and some jeans for Maya, since the weather is getting cold.  Or a movie.  Nothing too much.

I hope you have the day off, either for Thanksgiving, or for Columbus Day.  Enjoy some turkey or spaghetti.

Sorry Maya isn’t feeling well. Not a good way to spend a day off!
Eric and I were thinking we might have already had the swine flu too, but I guess we’re going to get the vaccination anyway.

    Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your dinner.

Tee hee! That “Happy Thanksgiving, eh!” just cracked me up! Too funny! 🙂

I totally forgot that Ted was born in Canada!

Oh, I hope Maya feels better soon. Hopefully whatever she has will go away soon. Speaking of swine flu…pretty scary stuff! Little One’s doctor told me she is recommending that Little One receive the shot. Poor baby…she’s going to be 12 months old next month and will be getting the swine flu shot, MMR, and another shot that babies get at 12 months. Fun. 🙁

    Get better soon, Maya!

It was a lovely Canadian Thanksgiving — especially since I made Maya play the You Tube clip of Geddy Lee singing “O, Canada.”

    O Canada!
    Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
