NaBloPoMo + DoSoEvAyMo = Busy Month

I’ve been debating this whole NaBloPoMo thing.  I’ve participated for the last couple of years, and it’s fun.  You meet a whole new community, assuming you put the effort into that.  At the very least, you write every dang day, which is a good exercise.  Of course, this isn’t such a problem for me, as I write almost every day already.  But I’ve been backing off from that a bit in this last year, thinking I might like to not feel that obligation, to only write when I am moved to…but now I’m thinking, yes, I’ll go for it.  I don’t know why, just that I feel like it.  Or more honestly, I don’t feel like NOT doing it.  So OK, I’m in.  NaBloPoMo again for me.  We’ll see how I do.

Last year, I took the idea of ~ DoSoEvAyMo ~ from Bibliomom, and I liked it. Her idea was to do something every day, rather than writing every day. So I’ll do both. I’ll commit to write a blog post every day, even if it’s a blogthing or a meme, and in addition, I’ll keep track of what I’m doing outside of the world of blogging.

Happy November, everyone!

1. Today, I’m getting my hair done. In an attempt to save money, instead of going to the salon, I have been going to the local Paul Mitchell Beauty School, which I have to say, rocks.   I get highlights and a cut, and at my old salon, I’m embarrassed to even tell you how much it cost.  A lot.  (Extra credit if you say “A lot” in your head in Brian’s voice, from Life of Brian (“How much do you hate the Romans?”  “A lot!”)  It’s a heck of a lot less at PM. They do a good job, too. But it ends up taking about twice as long. So I’ll bring a book. 😉

In a pinch, can your “do something” be blogging? I’m all for combos! Good luck. I’m currently writing 1000 words per day to finish a project. That’s A LOT for some and a little for others, for me it’s just right. Kind of like a PM haircut I guess. You are brave to have tried a beauty school, but since it works – I wish I could go.

Yea! If you are looking for any daily inspiration for NaBloPoMo, I’ve got a list of 30 things to get people inspired to write!

As for what I’m gonna do today: A friend of mine is in town, and we’re gonna go to Disneyland!!!

Starshine, I was thinking of that when I saw your challenge, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to sign up for all 30…can I come borrow just when I need to? Have a great time at Disneyland. I love Donald. If you see him, would you please say hello for me? 😉

Amy, regarding the hair…I kinda feel like eh, if they mess it up, it will grow back. I think you have to be that OK with it to take the risk.

My mom goes to a beauty school where she lives. I’ve been thinking about PM for a good all over color ever since you first mentioned it. Guess I should look them up and ask how much they charge. I’ve got a good inexpensive place to get it cut and I’ve been doing the coloring myself, but I think it’s time for an all-over color. Sigh. Maybe I should get *two* boxes of color and just do it myself.

Good grief! I’m tired just reading about all that! (Really resisting the temptation to pat you on the head and say “You young people run along and have a good time now.”)

    Hey, thanks for the shout-out!

My do-something for today was to stay home and in my jammies all day and I failed miserably at that because I felt guilty about not going to church. So then I changed my do-somthing in my head to include going to church. It’s a sick and sad cycle.

I really need to try out this Paul Mitchel thing. The salon prices are really getting to me but I have such a good technician! She’s really good at coloring so I don’t have to get it done very often. Maybe this next time I’ll have her darken it so I can go even longer.

    good luck on the challenge!

I tried Paul Mitchell for the hair cut thing, if you don’t mind sitting in the chair for awhile then it is not bad. But I did notice that one side of my hair was longer than the other a few days after the hair cut. But that has also happened at the professional salons too.
