Quote of the Day

“Atheism has its uses, but don’t let it get in your way.”

~Dad

Context is an email conversation about missing my mom horribly, and what an ideal afterlife would be for her.  Dad said she would:

  • Be pain free
  • Know all the answers, to EVERYTHING!
  • Be able to walk, run, FLY
  • Have no financial worries
  • Have no food issues
  • Be in Alaska, California, and someplace exotic, all at the same time
  • Know that her children and darling Maya are OK
  • Know that we all love her

I added that in addition to knowing all of the answers, she would be able to share that wisdom with others. Because she did love that.  To teach.  To share.  To pontificate.  To show off.  To be recognized for her brilliance.  To be admired.  To really be able to help others with her knowledge.  All of the above.

Thanks, Dad, for always knowing what to say.

I really like your list, the idea I had of your mom adventuring, being in three places at once.

You write about the pain of your loss with such openness and dignity.

I picture your mom sitting around, eating the most freshest, juiciest fruit she can possibly have, and able to do all of the things you mentioned. What a beautiful sight.

I would like to think your mom is or will experience all those things. I wish I had a clear handle on what I do and don’t believe in. I’m been confused for some time even before Mom was diagnosed.

Dads seem to know just the right things to say…at times! My dad seems to come up with the occasional brilliant thing to say when I need to hear it. 🙂

I had to smile when I read what your Dad said about your Mom in the afterlife. 🙂

Gotta love your Dad! Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on something because I don’t believe in a god. I just try to belive in good!
